While Colt Firearm’s new manufacturing operation in Florida is not a silver bullet, it certainly is another of a thousand cuts that will kill the corrupt labor unions! Colt Manufacturing Co. announced earlier this month it is moving 63 jobs to a new regional headquarters and product manufacturing center to Kissimmee, Florida next year. And, predictably, the over-paid, over-benefited, fat union workers at Colt’s manufacturing center in Connecticut are worried their jobs may be lost. They’re afraid their jobs will be lost to the new, non-union Florida location. Boo-freaking-hoo! Why is Colt building a plant in Florida? Because Florida, unlike the over-regulated Connecticut, is a right-to-work state with low taxes! The question is why it took Colt to move to Florida in the first place?
Just like other companies who have streamed out of liberal, anti-business hellholes like Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and New York, Colt realized they can make more money with less headaches in Florida. Oh, they also realized they don’t have to deal with extortionists in the labor unions either! This is just another nail in the coffin for labor unions. Just as it is for blue states. High taxes, job killing over-regulation, labor unions, governmental red tape…all are contributing to the complete downfall of blue states! Look at Mexifornia! Wealth producing Californians moved to Arizona, Texas, Utah and elsewhere long ago leaving the pitiful, dying state in the hands of illegal alien moochers and corrupt, labor union-owned Democrat politicians. California is circling the drain and will end up in the sewer of history just like Detroilet. And you know what? Screw them! Let them learn what sewer life is like! And let them continue to praise their precious diversity and corruption!
There is no place in America for labor unions. Unions have destroyed public schools, killed American manufacturers and run millions of jobs overseas. 100 years ago, maybe unions were needed to represent the workers from corrupt robber-barons. Now unions are extortion rackets that force employees to pony up money used to buy corrupt Democrat politicians who, in turn, provide unsustainable labor contracts the private sector cannot afford! Now that companies have exercised their right to move to red states after generations of being screwed by unions, the union workers are worried about their jobs! Hope you enjoyed the high-life while it lasted!
Labor unions and DemonRats go hand in hand. They destroy everything they touch! They take from honest, hard-working producers and give to their chosen few. They steal every last cent they can extort from taxpayers and businesses. And then, when the extorted realize they don’t have to put up with being ripped off and move to red states, the unions and their puppet Democrat corruptocrats break the law as the NRLB did with Boeing in Charleston, SC. Oh, and they cry a lot of crocodile tears too.
I will celebrate when the last union job goes away or moves to Texas. I am sick of paying premiums for union labor in products I buy. Maybe now that Colt I’ve had my eye on will come down a hundred dollars or so. But only if I buy one from Florida! And I guaran-damn-tee I will never, ever buy anything from General Motors! Death to unions!

Wow, tough to comment on that thread, you pretty much concisely summed it up. You knocked it out of the park. These times are almost surreal, I never imagined the Communist faction insidiously overtaking the Democratic party, maximizing extortion through the unions, coupled with the minority special interest groups (Gays, Illegals, Blacks, and retards)If there was ever a time for conservatives to unite, this election is it. We need to repeatedly drive this point home, we need to unite and defeat Hussein,Soros the Chicago thugs, and the unions. God help us
Agree on every point !!
Here in Mexifornia, Honest folks that work for a living are being bled to death in taxes. I’m only putting up with it until my recruiter finds me a decent opportunity back in the good ole Midwest.
As for unions….although they’re ALL despicable, I feel that the Public Unions are by far the worst. At least with private unions we have a choice as to buy their products or not whereby supporting their greed. With Public Unions we get extorted without a choice to no end by the corrupt unions and the shyster politicians that they conspire with for Public Union votes.
As a 22-year-old, I have worked for both the Teamsters at UPS and the United Food Workers Union at Krogers and working for both companies was abysmall to say the least. I live in Kentucky, which is not a right to work state, so I was wondering what AWD and everyone else thought of the idea of allowing people below the age of thirty to opt out of a union whether the state is pro-union or not.
It is my belief that EVERYONE, regardless of age, should be able to opt out. What “the state” is or isn’t should have no bearing on such matters. It’s none of the governments business what agreement an employer and employee agree upon.
Sorry, carried away there – yes I agree with your idea KYTim89!
You should be able to opt out of union membership….period, regardless of age. Non right to work states are union strongholds, and forcing workers to pay union dues, even for a agenda they support, is theft.
Unions love to rail about “big business.” Unions ARE big business. They have the forced dues from workers rolling in every month as they sell the membership out to socialist politicians. They have the gall to tell you how to vote, even as you pay THEM. You have to pay to play. They make the rules. Even an ardent union believer, if realistic, would have to admit this is true. Yes, I belonged to a union. Some companies are as bad as the unions, also.
AWD,
Your first statement is spot on and priceless. It looks like Colt is following Winchester’s lead, which announced recently that they were going to move their centerfire ammo production from East Alton, Ill to the Oxford, MS location to which they already moved the rimfire production. It warms my heart to see the firearms and ammo companies moving down south to a “friendlier” climate. What amazed me is that so many of the firearms manufacturers in this country are ( were ?) located in some of the “bluest” states in the country. Ruger and Sig in NH, S&W in MA (semis made in AZ), Rock River, Springfield, and LMT in IL, and DPMS in MN. An interesting side note is that Bushmaster, which was acquired by Cerberus Capital Management in 2006 announced in 2010 that the ME facility would close and presumably move to NC. (Cerberus is an interesting story…they went on a tare in ’06 – ’09 acquiring firearms manufacturers, including DPMS, Remington, Marlin – very well politically connected company, I might add). But I digress.
So now we have Winchester in MS, Remington in AR, Kel-Tec and Colt in FL, FNH USA in SC,and I know there are several in TX. I know there are others but I personally am liking this trend.
And #1 on my Christmas wish list….FNH Five Seven in OD green with 20 rd. mags. Please Santa put me on the “nice” list.
That is one hell of a choice:
American Unions, or Totalitarian Communist Red Chinese slave labor (that is going to build the enemies military by the way).
My next purchase is:
The 21st Century Commander (Colt). It is a Talo exclusive Series 70 Style commander designed by Wiley Clapp.
Colt Arms has a proven and reliable history. However, a Springfield 1911-A1 would do the same job. A few inexpensive mods would give you practically the same pistol.
The only real difference is the alloy frame on the Colt.
That being said, good for Colt on showing the unions whos boos.
Obama “Democracy”: Two wolves [public sector unions and food stampers], and one chicken [private sector taxpayers] voting on what to have for for lunch.
Just wanna chime in as one of those overpaid underworked union slobs everybody seems to hate. Take a little time to see who the major shareholder of Cerberus is. You’ll find it to be everybodys favorite commie billionare, George Soros..yep, just the kinda true blue freedom loving American who supports the 2nd amendment and would NEVER spend money to buy up as many arms makers as he could just to eventually close them down. So while youre spending your hard earned money on that new firearm, you get the added bonus of lining the pockets of one of the worst scumbags the planet has ever produced, and not those of the fat stupid lazy worthless union workers..enjoy!
It is you filthy union thugs that ruined this once great country with your Cadillac health and retirement plans and outrageous salary demands. You have run great manufacturers either out of business or drove them out of the country. Unions and the democratic party are nothing but leaches on our economy and need to be exterminated.
Thanks for your input ‘Jim.’ Just so you know, I really enjoy working in my non union machine shop and not have to worry about those pesky union doooooo’ssss…
Oh i most certainly did click the link, and let me tell you, it made me very happen to be proven wrong. I had read that rumor on more than a few of what i thought to be credible sites and blogs. So if in fact that is just a bad rumor, i apologize for unintentionally furthering it’s spread. As to the other issue concerning unions, i’ll be the first one to admit that they need to be reformed, and i damn sure wish they wouldnt be allowed to participate in any political campaign. I’ve been a steelworker for a good chunk of my life, union and non union. Now i can only speak from experience working here in Connecticut, but there has never seemed to be a huge difference in pay or benefits from company to company, as far as larger companies are concerned. Of course the smaller shops do tend to operate at a lower pay scale, especially the small job shops that aren’t aligned ( i think that would be the proper term) with any of the “Big Steel” companies. Before i veer wildly off on a tangent, i think the point i’ve tried to make responding to several things i’ve read here is that i’ve been on both sides of the fence, union and non union, and i have never seen any real difference, as a whole, between the productivity and work ethic of union and non union workers. EVERY place i’ve worked has had some slackers and idiots that try to do less than they were getting paid for and the worst, by far, happened to be a non union shop. I work in a union shop now and theres no way some of the things that went on in that place would be tolerated here. It seems that a lot of people have it in their heads that ALL union workers are somehow lazy and greedy. I assure you some are, but theres just as many non union ones out there too. And I think most people dont differentiate the public and private sector unions. Thats a whole different critter right there. If the company i work for aint makin money, WE, the union employees aint makin money. Government workers on the other hand dont seem to be effected by economic conditions in any way. THOSE are the unions i dont support at all because they are nothing but political organizations and never seem to be truly willing to negotiate without being assured that they will get what they want. Economy is bad? Folks cant afford higher property taxes?..too bad..we want our raises. Guess you’ll have to increase taxes anyway..THAT is the standard public union attitude around here. And THAT disgusts me as much as anyone.
Sorry, gotta chime in here yet again..hey ther Guy, i’d just like you to know that I cant recall having met you, so i dont really know how you could possibly know that i am a union “thug” with mafia ties. But, since you have used your incredible psychic powers to determine that much information about me, let me save you the trouble of using your incredible powers to uncover even more of my evil deeds…such as my monthly deliveries of a truckload (jeep cherokee, not like, tractor trailer) of groceries to our local food bank. My 20 dollar weekly payroll donation to the United Way. My yearly participation in Toys for Tots. Those are just a few of the vile, evil things I do..why, i am SUCH a superthug, the police have even been intimidated by my evilness to the point where i’ve NEVER been arrested for any of my horrible misdeeds, although a cop did place a parking ticket on my car once, but i didnt vaporize him with death rays from my eyes because i was too busy beating up a little old lady for fun. I really dont lie much, except for maybe when the truth might hurt someones feelings. Does any of this make me a saint? Hell no…but im no thug thats for damn sure. I hate thuggery as much as anyone else. As for my “mafia” ties, i think you hafta be Italian to join that particular club. That leaves me out. I’m Irish/Polish, which means i’m always right, i’m just not sure why. Gotta run, theres baby seals that need clubbing.
Good for Colt and good for Florida! Kissimmee is right down the road from me and twist my arm about buying a Colt..Fine weapons! Even better not union made.
I’m really looking forward to Colt coming to Osceola county/Kissimmee FL. My parents live about 4 miles from where the new manufacturing plant is going to be built. There’s already been talk that Colt may be putting in a museum and shooting range open to the public. If they do, I’ll be there!
