Well, being the nutcase political junkie I am, I caught many Sunday political shows yesterday and Santorum made the rounds, he’s now saying we’re down to a two-person race type of thing…we all know we’ve seen and heard this before, mainly from Newt Gingrich…the ups and downs from everybody in the race polls-wise has been at top of the heap, including Bachmann, Cain, Trump, Gingrich, Romney and now Santorum. What a roller-coaster ride this has been!

Here’s some of the report from ABC’s ‘This Week’ with Georgie Porgie Stephanopoulos:

Still riding high off of his three-win streak in Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado last week, Rick Santorum blasted Republican rival Mitt Romney on Sunday, saying the GOP frontrunner was getting “desperate” by trying to paint Santorum as anything less than a true conservative.

“For him to suggest that I’m not the conservative in this race — you know, there’s — you reach a point where desperate people do desperate things,” Santorum told me on “This Week.”

Santorum’s comments were in response to statements Romney made earlier in the week that both Santorum and his fellow GOP rival Newt Gingrich are “Republicans who acted like Democrats.”

“That’s pretty funny for Mitt Romney saying I’m acting like a Democrat,” Santorum said Sunday. “Another candidate has come up to challenge him, and this time he’s having trouble finding out how to go after someone who is a solid conservative, who’s got a great track record of attracting Independents and Democrats and winning states as a conservative.”

Santorum said that despite his third place finish in the Maine caucus on Saturday, he expects to “do exceptionally well” in the Arizona and Michigan primaries the end of the month. The former Pennsylvania Senator his strong showing in the next two contests would make the GOP nomination a “two person race.”

Santorum credited Romney’s success thus far not to his policies or record, but to his fundraising prowess. Romney currently leads Santorum in the delegate count 105 delegates to Santorum’s 71 delegates.

“He’s been able to win in these early primary states by, you know, beating the tar out of his opponents by four- and five-to-one on television,” Santorum said. “Well, of course, in the fall, he’s not going to have the most money.”

Santorum was also on with NBC’s ‘Dirty Dick‘ Gregory (as my hubby likes to call him)…here’s the video if you’d like to catch this when you have the time.

Rick Santorum set down with David Gregory on Meet The Press. Topics included, the contraception debate, his view on feminism, gay marriage and how he plans to strengthen his message as being the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney.

Santorum:“A little bit of Richie Cunningham wouldn’t be a bad thing for our society right now.”

Last but not least…we can’t forget the sweetness from CNN’s Candy Crowley:

Rick Santorum appeared on State of the Union with Candy Crowley where he suggested, while emphasizing that there is nothing wrong with it, that the Romney campaign “bought the votes” at the CPAC straw poll. He addressed criticisms that back in the 2006 campaign he had a moderate streak including finding Amtrak and increasing the minimum wage.

I’m also seeing polls here and there where Santorum is makes gains in Michigan of all places, here’s one of them where they have Santorum 10-15 points ahead of Romney…check it out here.

Also here’s one of the latest National Polls for the republican presidential primary election, they have Romney and Santorum neck and neck, this is Gallup and Pew both. The best way to track all the major polls combined is to go here…RealClearPolitics has the latest, Santorum is two points ahead as well.

So friends…how are you seeing this race as it is now through your ‘Viewfinder in Life’…do you think this is just a quirk for now…or is Santorum onward and upward?

We all know we have March’s Super-Tuesday to get through yet…but it’s sure getting to be a lot of fun getting there…depending on who you are and who you’re rooting for…of course.

We never know what’s going to be dug up yet from the past from the good old mainstream media ‘Spin Machine‘…let alone the various political operatives that all candidates have working for them, of all factions, including the O-Team.

Do you think Santorum has lasting momentum going for him…or do you think he may just be counting his chickens before they hatch?

So friends, add your two cents….as I always say ~ Fire Away…Inquiring Minds Want to Know!!

Chalk it up to wishful thinking.

Still Santorum has come a long way and I perfer him to Mitt or Newt.

  2. Thanks bigtimer.

My husband and I supported Santorum right from the beginning and we’re still going to vote for him this coming November.

I am happy to see at least one brave conservative, Michelle Malkin) publicly endorse him.

All the establishment RINO’s and its notable conservative talking heads are concerned about is playing it safe and grooming a light-weight “moderate” who will most likely help Hussein remain in office for another 4 years!

Santorum is not perfect and he has his flaws but liberals unlike conservatives will rally behind the most radical (Democrat) politician imaginable irrespective of whether or not they are appealing to so-called “moderate” and “independent” voters!

    • Renee…

Do you remember way back when I first put a blog post about Santorum here, and it turned into a race thing with a few of the trolls we had here from way back when…I remember you coming back a few days later and asking what the heck happened to the thread and the topic of the post type of thing…lol!

Btw…as to Malkin, I was really pleased as well…she really took it from a lot of Grinch supporters on twitter, I see where David Limbaugh is now supporting him too. He’s been catching heck as well…they aren’t alone…many of us not famous folks that are on twitter have been ignored now or ostracized type of thing…it’s hilarious to me. Heck…I would never do that to anyone on the right side of the aisle…talk about immature.

      • We saw the Duggars on Fox & Friends this morning and they too are supporting Santorum.

I remember when they appeared on the (liberal) View and those two resident hags, Whoopie and Joy nearly had a spasm at the thought of a loving (heterosexual) couple, fulfilling God’s will of raising a large family and instilling them with good wholesome values within the sacrament of (traditional) marriage!

        • Renee…

Missed that show this morning…but did read about the Duggars supporting Santorum yesterday at one of the many blogs I read.

          The more the merrier!

  4. Political junkie huh? I’m going into recovery.

Santorum could be the guy I guess. Unless something weird comes up like he’s got third butt cheek, or he’s a Wiccan Warlock or he used to be a woman.

It’s like when I was little, our pediatrician had this cabinet full of puppets to amuse children with while they were having a giant needle jammed into their arm.

I didnt care about puppets, just give me the shot, and I’ll scream in your ear, then I can go home.

I wish it was November already.

      • I also wished it was Nov. too for reasons given…but dang…I want me at least two months of warm weather in-between! 😉

It’s been a mild winter in our neck of the woods..but still, warm weather is something this gal needs. (It’s the desert-rat in me.)

        (0)
        • Right there with ya BT! It has been a good winter, but it is time for some warm weather and fun!

Hope you and Mr. BT are well! 😉

          • Lol Swamp…

I don’t know how to take that..are ya talking about the ‘Desert Rat’ in me needing warm weather..or ‘my checking may need some adjusting’ part, or both…oops, wait a minute, maybe I don’t want to read the answer after-all… :-)

When my brother and I got shots as kids we would pretend we were cowboys getting a bullet dug out of us and bite down on something we brought with us, the doctor always laughed about it. don’t think I can bite down on anything till November so everybody gonna hear me scream in their ear.

      (0)
      • Every time, I would ask the doctor if there was a pill I could take instead of getting the shot. Haha.

When I worked as an EMT, I never seemed to have a problem sticking other people with needles.

        Go figure. 😉

Those democrats will create whatever fallacious liberal rights suits their misguided aim, even if its centered on a plant or rock!

  6. I have been a supporter of Santorum from the beginning of the race. I do think Santorum’s surge will continue, partly because he has a positive message and appeals to blue collar voters. While it may not be a two man race, yet, I believe it will be soon.

    • Howdy Teresa…one things for certain, we’ll no more the 28th I think it is with Az. and Michigan…Super-Tuesday in March will speak volumes!

  7. freespeechzone says:

I want to like Santorum, but, in reality, the GOP HAS to win in November. Period.

Santorum is religious, which is fine, but, in the states that count, many are secular and will be turned off by his outward and vocal religious expressions.

I understand that position isn’t fair or nice–but, again, we NEED TO WIN and to draw in Independents and disgruntled dems in key states to beat Obama.

Having said that, while Romney isn’t my ideal candidate, nor is he conservative, I personally believe that as a moderate, Romney has the better chance of drawing from all segments to get the Electoral College votes needed to beat Obama…

To promote the Conservative mindset, I think focus on those in Congress that are up for election and need to be replaced should be more of a focus as opposed to arguing as to who is the most Conservative GOP Presidential Nominee..

We HAVE TO WIN the White House—FIRST and FOREMOST.

    My 2 cents…

    (0)
    • Howdy fsz…

I don’t know whose going to go all the way on our side of the aisle to the win the GOP nomination, none of us do at this point, but whomever it is…I believe he will defeat Dear Leader…no matter the candidate.

Obama is detested with a passion by too many people…just my opinion too.

  8. Seeing how mr Santorum is a pretty religious guy and i tend to lean that way myself. I thought I would toss this out here;http://patriotpost.us/alexande.....-or-bible/ “The Wicked flee when no man pursues, but the righteous stand bold as a lion.” Thought I’d add this one also;http://weaselzippers.us/2012/0.....ian-faith/

  9. I’m going with Sweater Vest Guy simply because I won’t have to hold my nose. Don’t agree with him on everything 100% but he meets 8 out of 10 on my list of criteria. That’s closer than the others have managed. Two man race? Not if Santorum keeps up the momentum, then we’ll be down to one -him.

Gettin’ shots don’t scare me but Obama does.

    • Good Morning Mark…

As to Norris even daring to use the word ‘conservative’ regarding McRINO gave me my first laugh of the morning after reading his opinion piece…truly, that’s hilarious.

Now onto Santorum…sure, he’s got some probs from his past voting record, I’m not supporting all of them, some he says now he wished he hadn’t voted for…but when it comes to gun control, Norris may want to do some research first before penning what he did, The GOA and the NRA give Santorum an A+…just thought I’d put a couple of links here…

      http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1....._Data.html

In this link above you can see how each candidate voted and other information. Santorum’s is at the bottom.

And here’s link I just thought was interesting all the way around so thought I’d throw it in here too.

      http://2012.republican-candida.....ontrol.php

Btw…I don’t have a link to the information in the story I read a few days back somewhere about the NRA and GunOwnersof America giving the thumbs up to Santorum…I can’t remember where I read it…but I did, 😉

Just thought I’d throw this info. out here for something to chew on as well.

    • Mark, I admire Chuckie but he’s dead wrong on this, Santorum is much more a conservative than Newtie is.

Anyone who would play “huggie and footsie” with the likes of Hitlery, Pigliosi and greasy Al and then claim to be a conservative, is a bald faced liar, imo!

Newtie is a worse flip flopper than Romney is!
A Jeckyl and Hyde if you will.

      (0)
    • Mark…here’s another perfect example of what I meant by Norris even being silly enough to use McRINO as a ‘conservative’…

      http://campaign2012.washington.....ood/375336

Btw…I heard this live today…and I was infuriated at this bastid…once again!

  13. Fed Up Texan says:

Most of those “dead” people will be alive in November, and they will all vote commucrat several times. Trust me on that. The commucrats could vote the graveyard for LBJ, and the graveyard will vote for that lousy POS who is in the white house now. They did last time, what has changed?

  17. Well considering that Santorum isn’t going to be on the ballot in several states I don’t see how he can overcome Ron Paul let alone Mitt Romney.
The little secret is that Ron Pau; has been picking up delegates at every election and has a healthy lead in delegates over Santorum.
The MSM are giving false totals but the convention will tell the tale. A lot of Santorum delegates are going to vote for him on the first ballot and take off his shirt and wear Ron Pauls shirt the rest of the convention.

  18. One more bit of info on Santorum,….recently numbersusa ranked Santorum high because he signed a pledge against illegal alien amnesty, etc.

Illegal aliens are the highest of my priorities,…they and their enablers are destroying America!

  19. stratomaster says:

I think Newt needs to leave the race now if he truly believes there needs to be a conservative alternative to Romney.

He won’t because what he really is is pissed off at Romney’s attacks when Newt was on top and he just wants to try to get even. His motivation is revenge not getting a real conservative elected. The people have pretty much spoken and Newt wasn’t on their lips.

Leave now Newt for the good of the party.
