“In the end, 450 dead animals lay on top of one another in a billowy white pile, the Aksam newspaper said. Those who jumped later were saved as the pile got higher and the fall more cushioned, Aksam reported.”
While I certainly admire the moxie, I would like to take this opportunity to remind our patriot brothers and sistas of the hard-core Libertarian variety that a little prudence and pragmatism may be in order at times!

No, I jest. The strength of Libertarians is that they’ve got much stiffer spines than most and won’t meekly fall in line with the demands of the Establishment as the Republicans (read: the sackless retard wing of the Liberal Establishment) do.
However, those I’d describe as “hard core” are those who, to myself at least, appear more pedantic, naive, and/or doctrinaire than effective.
Please be clear that I don’t think this describes anything close to a majority of (let alone all) libertarians. Nor do I think any particular political ideology is without its faults and therefore none are absolved of criticism.
Also, assuming you’ve had the patience to read through my interminable posts, you probably noticed that I not only consider myself a bit of Libertarian (though I’d describe myself first and foremost as a paleo), but also hold Libertarianism as the last bastion of hope for this nation.
On a related note, I went to my second meeting of the NYC chapter of the Oath Keepers last night. A very heated argument broke out between the libertarians and the paleos (and/or neocons–sometimes I can’t tell the difference).
This drives me nuts.
The hostility directed toward each other on all sides of the libertarian/paleo/neocon debate is like a circular firing squad, while the common enemy (read: the anarchotyrannist/neo-Marxist statists) looks on, bemused and unharmed.
Let’s get the Federal Leviathan hacked down to size, the nanny state destroyed, and the Democrat party run out of town on a rail.
Then and only then should we feel free to start hating on each other!
Hey Red…sorry this is off topic, but do you or others have a quick hint for me about what I may need to enable to see an underlined user name such as IS has which is a link to her site…I don’t have that function working and others like tazz does…I’m just curious, since I’m not computer savvy, I learn as I go…as I’ve taught myself from day one living alone up in the boonies…I’ve had others who know quick tips on blogs who have helped me along the day…hence me asking you and others.
Hey Biggie, no worries about being off-topic. In fact, I’m not sure I’d know how to be on topic with my post!
Anyway, I believe your link shows up if you provide a URL for your own website in your profile for your AWD [Wordpress] account. Then just make sure you’re logged in when you’re posting comments. (I don’t believe it puts the link on there if you’re not logged in–or, perhaps, if it’s you don’t provide a URL, period.)
Talk about weird…I just went back to the blog post where IS was when we talking and couldn’t see her user name underlined yesterday to go to her site, read and tweet her stuff.
Sure enough the line was underneath tonight! (It usually always has been in the past here with other users)…anyway, to make a long story short…I hadn’t done any of the suggestions you both gave me which I planned on doing after done with making dinner tonight…to weird…can’t figure out if it’s this site server change or what!
BigTimer… If you can’t see the underline but can activate the link then.

Well Red, it’s another fine mess you’ve gotten us into: two great choices- Obama (Communist) versus Romney (Socialist). Are there still any good men left in America?
Get your programs! Can’t tell a player without a program!*
*circa 1963, as heard from vendors selling their wares outside of Cleveland Municipal Stadium (1932-1993)- but still very apropos today.
Oy, that is the question. Someone brought up the point last night the John Smith (of Jamestown) was an amazing, intrepid guy–and was standard fare back in the day.
Unfortunately, the metrosexual is today’s more common pattern amongst men. Or should I say, “men.”
Timbo, standard argument: “Ron Paul’s batsh*t crazy and Paulbots are tinfoil hat wearing moral reprobates!”
“Yeah, well, you’re an imperialist neocon statist who wants to invade the world and use the government to force Judeo-Christian morality on the entire population!”
PS, I’m paraphrasing liberally here. It was much more civil than I’m making it out to be. But it was still pretty heated–and completely unnecessary and detracting, IMHO.
It still seems really weird that there are Oath Keeper meetings in NYC! Other than the mentioned BS, how do you feel about the get togethers?
Are there many attending? What percent would you guess are mil/law? How do they feel their brothers will behave when SHTF?
Timbo, like I’ve said before, there are a lot of “me’s” out there–we’re just scattered and disorganized. The group seems like a great start to getting some mass and momentum going.
Our guest speaker last night was an NYC councilman, and he was friggin awesome. (I don’t want to reveal identities, but there’s probably only one councilman in the entire state who would fit that description, so I’ll leave it at that.)
We had maybe 25 people there last night–or roughly a 300% increase from the kick-off meeting back in November. (I missed the second one in December, so not sure what those numbers were like.)
By show of hands last night, about half were military or law. And their concern about their brothers in arms was a topic of discussion. Fortunately, there are some great peeps out there and they’re very patient in trying to talk some sense into their peers.
On this note, there were only two or three people who got really fired up last night, and none of them were military/law. Go figure. Just supports my sentiment that people who put their lives on the line everyday don’t sweat the small stuff. (And looks like the one who got most upset has already left the group…which I’ glad to see, honestly. She was a handful.)
Know that there was a consensus last night that there’s growing sentiment amongst most everyone’s friends, family, and coworkers–of all political stripes–that the USG is increasingly being seen as the #1 enemy of the people.
This supports my other notion that, like the months leading up to both the War for Independence and the War for Southern Independence, this nation is a powder keg just waiting to explode.
11/2012 will be the spark, baby. Let’s see what comes of it.
Of course, the best way to predict the future is to create it.
Checked out the site. It was kinda fun trying to figure out which member is you! I’m stumped. Maybe I’ll waste a few cells on it tomorrow, when they are more active. Looks like a good group of folks. Good on ya.
steve,I will go even further i say Obama is a muslim. Why does he do everything he can to get them in power all over the middle east? Why does he keep us dependent on their oil? Everything he’s done benefits his muslim brothers.
Thanks for another informative blog. Where else may I get that kind of information written in such an ideal way? I have a venture that I’m just now working on, and I’ve been on the glance out for such information.
Ha! What exactly do you mean by prudence and pragmatism. Is that code for libritarians better fall in line and go with the establishment?
