Well, well, well…seems we have the ever-lovin’ ‘King-of-Smarts‘ George Will telling us to suck-it-up, give-up, give-in, surrender…GAME OVER!
Here’s a preview of what he’s written for his Sunday Column, this is via TWS and Bill Kristol:
The estimable George Will is almost ready to hoist the white flag on the 2012 presidential election. Neither Mitt Romney nor Rick Santorum, he writes in his column for this Sunday (an advance copy of which was obtained by Politico), “seems likely to be elected.” And while conservatives, Will advises, should vote for whichever is nominated, there may well “come a point when … conservatives turn their energies to a goal much more attainable than . . . electing Romney or Santorum president. It is the goal of retaining control of the House and winning control of the Senate. . . . [C]onservatives this year should have as their primary goal making sure Republicans wield all the gavels in Congress in 2013.”
After all, Will argues, if Republicans control Congress, “their committee majorities will serve as fine-mesh filters, removing President Obama’s initiatives from the stream of legislation. . . . [A] re-elected Obama — a lame duck at noon next Jan. 20 — would have a substantially reduced capacity to do harm.”
Rarely has an intelligent man been so wrong.
By every objective measure, the GOP has a reasonable chance to defeat President Obama—probably between 1-in-3 and 1-in-2. Given this opportunity, it would be crazy not to do everything one can to effectuate an outcome so devoutly to be desired. This doesn’t mean falling in line early behind an inevitable nominee or suppressing criticism of the likely nominee. If some of us have tried to expand the presidential field, it’s because we’ve been unconvinced that the current field offers us the best hope of victory. If some of us have resisted Romney inevitability, or an early Romney coronation, it’s because we don’t think that Romney’s nomination—or at least his easy and early nomination—would increase Republican chances of winning the presidency. Others differ on these questions. But whatever differences conservatives have in March about candidates, strategy and tactics should not affect our determination in the fall, when there is a Republican nominee, to turn our energies to defeating President Obama.
First mistake Will is making with all his BS blathering in his coming column is he seems to forget if Dear Leader remains as president he will definitely increase the unconstitutional methods he’s already been using lately which is ‘By-Passing Congress!‘ How danged dumb does he think we all are out here, or is he just permanently “Stuck on Stupid?!”
One other little item, we have weak-kneed leaders on the right side of the aisle who have hid in their shadows doing absolutely zilch about what Dear Leader has already done and so far gotten away with, recent examples are his making recess appointments when there WAS NOT a RECESS…and our guys shiver in the boots, do and say nothing…so what makes Will think he won’t do the same thing again and again even if we have both the House and Senate….hmmm?
Here’s another topper for the cake when it comes to the Wizard-of-Smarts, I caught this last Sunday, you watch and tell me how ‘Stuck-on-Stupid‘ he is!
Here’s just one snippet of what he said, there’s much more here:
“Newt Gingrich said the American people have a right to demand two dollar and fifty cent gas prices. They have a right to demand lobsters grow on trees. This is economic nonsense.”
With friends like George Will…who needs ENEMIES!
Add your two-cents in here folks…I’m at my wit’s end after reading all this pretentious blather from this so-called conservative. As far as I’m concerned, and have been for decades when it comes to George Will…he’s nothing but an elite Belt-Way Insider that thrives in the muck and mire of the swampland other Talking-Head residents like him reside in.
25 Responses to QUESTION OF THE DAY: IS GEORGE WILL “STUCK ON STUPID?”
What is going on with my country? A president who apologizes for a few burned books while our enemy kills our citizens, a law student who thinks I should pay for her birth control, $750,000 soccer fields for our detainees, scads of money for political payoffs for the president’s benefactors, takeover of our health care system, takeover of our student loan program, takeover of our automotive industry, the curtailment of our energy resources, bowing to foreign leaders, denial of American exceptionalism, what happened? Was I so busy earning a living and raising my children that I missed the beginning of this calamity? Is it too late? If longtime conservative pundits like George Will think its over, I worry that my children (5) and grandchildren(7 and counting) will not get to enjoy the great America that I was born in. Please, are there enough of us in the silent majority to take it back? I am sad.
Bigtimer.
Agree, I haven’t paid any attention to Will in a few yr’s, He’s in cahoots with all the other out of touch Washington elites. Total victory in 2012, Whitehouse, Congress and the Senate,
Btw…the picture of Alfalfa is supposed to gradual in a matter of a couple of seconds turn into George Will…don’t know why it won’t work once it was posted…oh well, don’t understand all the new ins & outs of the new works around here behind the scenes quite yet…eventually I may. Wished I was computer savvy like Red. If I’d have been younger and raised on a computer, I would have no prob…I think. (snicker, snicker)
Bigtimer,
Know what you mean with the computer savvy,
also know what you mean about born younger, The amount of technology I have witnessed in my 59 yr’s is mind boggling, but if the world collapses around us I stand a better chance of surviving than a lot of people.
I’m so sick of these sons-a-bitches. George Will is one of the stupid idiots that thinks we should all get along.
I say we don’t get along – fight the libtard left at every step of the way – don’t give them in inch – “gridlock” every which way you turn.
Fight the left on every front – on every issue – and never back down from these damn libtards.
The idea to give up winning the presidency and leaving a Marxist in the oval office is as reprehensible as feeding Christians to the lions. If that were to happen our country would be lost and we wouldn’t be able to get it back. Can you just imagine the SCOTUS judges that would be appointed.
I couldn’t even begin to imagine how destructive that would be.
George Will has always been a cowardly, politically-correct neoCon at heart. He has never been willing to risk his position as a mainstream media commentator. Even when he is on the correct side of an issue he always hems and haws and tries to be “reasonable” in deference to the leftist dictators of the national discussion. The entire GOP is filled with these traitors. Of course the Democrats are outright cloven-hooved communists. We have no friends in government or the mainstream media. If you are a White, productive citizen, the ruling elite sees you as the enemy. It is long past time for us to speak in measured “reasonable” tones. It is time for blunt, offensive language when referring to our ruling elites and their foot soldiers; the blacks and hispanics. The U.S. has already been destroyed. The only question to be asked is: When will we overthrow those who have been destroying the U.S. for the past 50 years and build a new United States based on the Constitution and Christian morals? The entire country is now Detroit.
I agree – hot air artist Will is the designated “conservative” of the beltway crowd, breathing polluted DC air, occupying the token conservative slot, allowed to pontificate for big bucks. He probably thought Reagan was too “extreme” to win in November, along with all the other pompous windbags. I stopped watching those characters long ago. I’d rather read this site, also TheoSpark.net, LewRockwell.com and a bunch of others, than watch the Sunday in-crowd “experts.” Will fits right in as the innocuous token “conservative” in the Washington P— newsrag. Will is no Joe Sobran, Sam Francis or AWD. The bloggers on this site make a lot more sense than Will. We live in real America. I also hate the Sunday political TV shows and detest network news – never watched a minute of Katie News. Thanks to all of you at AWD for the great info…Gutsy Andrew Breitbart R.I.P.
Third!
I stopped paying any attention whatsoever to Will several years ago. His predictable snooty harumphing and tut-tutting got mighty annoying. He’d do well to take off his smoking jacket, put down his snifter of brandy, and spend some time in “flyover country.” I suspect he’d learn something about America and Americans in the process.
Did you ever pay attention to Will back when Pat Buchanan was running for Prez and doing well, I wished I could remember everything he said..but he basically said something like Pat was like a monkey in in tree etc etc…it was beneath contempt. I have never forgotten that slam…ever!
Yeah…and just one more, since I was talking about Buchanan here. This is the hypocrisy in the msm to this say…only three-fold now.
Bryant Gumbel, big star back then on NBC or some-such, referred to Buchanan as ‘Pukechanan’ as well. We watched it live and nary a word was said by the left or the right….anywhere!
AWD, please don’t use an image of a beloved “cultural icon” such as Alfalfa to support the stupidity of pseudo-conservatives such as George Will!
On that note, Will is simply a paid mouthpiece of the loony liberal media establishment to counter-attack traditional-minded conservatives.
This is why I am convinced that the conservative movement died with the passing of William F.Buckley and President Ronald Reagan.
Just look at the Fox News Channel and the tiring effort they make in employing liberal commentators who support some of the most nefarious and immoral subjects imaginable. What kind of significance or positive impact can conservatism have on our culture if were unable to implement our ideas publicly?
When Andrew Breitbart recently passed away, Fox’s Bill Hemmer welcomed one of its resident “lebenese” commentators, Sally “Con” to voice her “morally upstanding”, “truly sincere and balanced” opinions in regards to Breibart’s “controversial”, “mean spirited” and “bomb-throwing” tactics!
I blame “idjits” such as George Will, Bill O’Reilly, John Mc”Shame”, Elizabeth Hasslebeck, John Gambling and many others, (like Ann Coulter whom I’ve recently lost respect for) who although they personally ascribe to conservative ideals are unable to publicly stand firm and principally behind the conservative philosophy lest they receive an “intolerant” tongue-lashing by their liberal constituents!
AWD didn’t use Alfalfa…I did. The reason I did is in a matter of a second or two he turns into Will…it didn’t show up that way on post…but if you read the caption below, you can click him and see what I mean. (ga steve helped me out with that)…just wanted to let you and others know. ~
