According to many reports that have been swirling around in the blogosphere world, republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney gave one of his best speeches yet in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Here’s a report from the WE:

In a general election-style speech at Lawrence University in Appleton Wisconsin Friday, Mitt Romney delivered one of his most fundamental critiques of Barack Obama of the campaign so far. The president, Romney said, was elected in 2008 on the strength of his personality, and despite his failures remains surrounded by true believers who are poised to attack anyone who challenges their hold on power.

“This is a president who was elected not on the strength of a compelling record of accomplishment but by a compelling personality and story,” Romney said. But while the president’s persona appealed to many voters, Romney said, his actual performance in office led to widespread disappointment. Now, Romney continued, “though the reality has failed the hope and change he promised, [Obama] remains surrounded by true believers who attack anyone who challenges their power. And, as we see each day, they will fight even more fiercely to hold on to that power.”

Obama’s focus on his own personality as the basis of his political appeal, Romney suggested, has led the president to a inflated opinion of his own accomplishments. “President Obama thinks he’s doing a good job,” Romney said. “No, I’m not kidding. He actually thinks he’s doing a great job. An historically great job. According to the President, only Lincoln, FDR and Lyndon Johnson have accomplished more. And no, he didn’t say that on Saturday Night Live.”

Part of Obama’s story, Romney reminded the audience, was his time as a community organizer — an experience that Obama often cited as a key qualification for him to be elected president. But Romney said Obama’s time as an organizer taught him precisely the wrong lessons about the economy. “Barack Obama once said that his work as a community organizer motivated him to help ‘communities that had been ravaged by plant closings,'” Romney said. “His desire to help others could not be more admirable, but it’s clear that he saw free enterprise as the villain and not the solution.” The “ironic tragedy” of Obama’s time in office, Romney said, “is that the community organizer who wanted to help those hurt by a plant closing became the president on whose watch more jobs were lost than any time since the Great Depression.”

Romney also introduced the phrase “government-centered society.” Obama has “spent the last four years laying the foundation for a new government-centered society,” Romney said, describing a society in which government becomes more intrusive, taxes and spending go up, productivity is inhibited, and benefits go to favored groups. Romney used the phrase “government-centered society” at least seven times in the Appleton speech.

Here’s some of a report from Talking-Head Anchors via a local NBC affilate:

Romney’s loudest cheers came from a comment on unions, a divisive issue in Wisconsin. It’s a stance sure to get some of the conservative republican base in Romney’s corner come November.

And here we have Dear Leader throwing some more of his insanity around in Vermont, Maine about the same time as Romney was campaigning.

This is via GP:

President Barack Obama accused Republicans of clinging to economic policies that preceded the Great Depression and the more recent economic downturn, saying his rivals are showing signs of “madness.”

Raising campaign cash in Maine on Friday, March 30, Obama said Republicans want to return to economic policies that would let Wall Street play by its own set of rules and allow insurance companies to roll back health coverage.

“We won’t win the race for new jobs and new businesses and middle-class security if we cling to this same old, worn-out, tired ‘You’re on your own’ economics that the other side is peddling,” Obama said.

“It was tried in the decades before the Great Depression. It didn’t work then. It was tried in the last decade. It didn’t work,” he said. “You know, the idea you would keep on doing the same thing over and over again, even though it’s been proven not to work. That’s a sign of madness.”

Besides Dear Leader being obviously desperate at this point of the game, do you think he’s coming completely undone right before our eyes?

You tell me…which person speaking sounds sane and which one doesn’t!

The presidents popularity riding high… don’t think so according to link.

    • Paul…

Excellent article, he summed it up to a tee.

Loved the end of it ~

“Not that you will see any trace of embarrassment in the face of Mr. Obama. He has mastered the high political art of shamelessness, wearing it smugly and cockily. Kind of like a hoodie.”

      That says it all…masterfully!

    • Good stuff in that article, President Obama has completely lived up to my very lowest expectations of leadership.

The leaders of tomorrow are here today; abandon hope all ye who enter here for this is surely divine comedy

  2. Snake Oiler says:

A brief explanation of what those ‘subsidies’ enjoyed by the evil oil companies actually are, by way of Petronius over at S&L:

The regime’s proposed elimination of the “subsidy” to oil companies is a misnomer. The “subsidies” they refer to are not subsidies at all, but rather the oil depletion allowance.

The depletion allowance is a generally accepted accounting principle (GAAP) similar to depreciation. It recognizes the reduced value of a capital asset (land or drilling leases) held for development by a natural resources company due to the removal of the underlying minerals.

Cost depletion recognizes a charge against earnings for extracting wasting assets (natural resources such as oil, gas, coal, gold, copper, iron ore, bauxite, etc.) as production occurs. This allows investors to recover their initial investment in the asset –– capital that was taxed once when earned –– without being taxed on it again.

In other words, Nerobama is singling out oil companies for a special tax on investment capital. The net result would be to drive up the cost of petroleum products, with a ripple effect throughout the entire American economy.

These proposals are yet further examples of predation by Nerobama and the regime upon American companies and the American consumer. This serial predation is not occurring by accident. It is not happening out of ignorance of economics and accounting principles and the way business works.

It is happening because Nerobama is an anti-capitalist, anti-business, and anti-American Bolshevik predator-thug who is hell-bent on our destruction.

    • Howdy Snake Oiler…

Exactly right this is what the subsidies are, along with what Dear Leader is up to.

I heard a great segment about all of this on Fox Business last week…I learned a lot about big bad subsidies and what they really are.

Can’t thank you enough for the piece you put in here.

Great to see ya here…as always. 😉

    • Snake oiler, good to see you back and you sure hit it on the head!
“Nerobama” is a communist, pure and simple and the sooner that people realize this, the better off we will be.

If America allows that SOB to steal another term in office, then there is little hope that this country will ever recover, short of a violent revolution.

  3. He’s so full of hot air its un-freakin’ believable! If that head
of his gets any bigger, we won’t need to worry about his
election a second time because I think he’ll blow up and bust!

  4. Death to Libtards says:

One of these tools will be president for the next four years. Yuck!

    • ABO! – We cannot gave Dear Leader occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. any longer come Jan. ’13.

    • Snake Oiler says:

Romney, tool though he may be, is not the invisible man. We might all do well to remember this:

All the way back in 2004, when Sen. Ted Kennedy arranged the national début of a totally unknown freshman Illinois Senator at the DNC John Kerry convention, thinking people started asking intelligent questions – Who is this guy? – Where did he come from? – What has he ever done? – How did he get here? – Why are they creating such a big stir over this invisible nobody at the Kerry Convention?

From that point forward, the questions have only mounted up and no answers have been forthcoming, at least no honest answers.

By the 2008 election cycle, the nobody senator from nowhere had somehow become a presidential contender, powerful enough to destroy the Clinton War Room, once considered to be the most formidable political force in American history. How did this happen?

Questions swirling around the 2008 campaign of the unknown candidate were raging everywhere, except in the main stream press which seemed fully on-board the campaign to elect someone nobody had ever heard of before to the highest office in our land. According to all main stream accounts, he was the new political messiah sent to save the nation – and newsrooms never even asked to see his résumé, or so much as a real birth certificate.

By the 2008 DNC Convention, some answers were beginning to surface. But the biggest questions of all remained a mystery as the American press prepared the nation for a President nobody knew.

Who is? And Why Won’t the Press Ask?

If it were still true that we could judge a person’s character by the company he keeps, Obama would have certainly been convicted via guilt by association long before he was sworn into office. No person ever seeking public office in the United States has ever had such a long and distinguished list of corrupt and criminal miscreant friends.

      • Snake…

Thank you, thank you and thank you.

Says it all…does it not? And the same msm still cheers, protects this man from nowhere on.

Although millions of us knew who and what he was before the election, millions more bought the msm BS instead of learning themselves. – Disgusting.

        • Snake Oiler says:

A little vulgar, but accurate, nonetheless. Similar methods – just waiting for him to nullify the 22nd Amendment by executive order.

          • Snake…

Not vulgar in the least…in fact it’s picture ‘PERFECT!’

            Btw…Love Sodahead’s work!

        • BT, all along I’ve thought the Obama fanaticism has been the work of some kind of international and national criminal conspiracy cabal who are intent on destroying America.

I still suspect it and think about it, George SorAss, UN,Communist China, Russia, fanatic Islamist countries etc.

          MaoBami is their “useful idiot”.

          • Tazz…

Rev. Wright (and ilk) and the Black Nationalist group…which Dear Leader is/was part of when it came to his belief’s and whom he associated with.

Frank Marshall Davis….even though wikipedia, this is well put together. The bottom part includes Obama, but many of us have read much deeper connections elsewhere as well.

I really hope some read all of this. ~ This is deep what all Davis did, touched from Kansas, Arkansas, Chicago, Honolulu, etc. Commie party, labor/unions, newspapers on and on.

Some claim he’s really O’s dad, I’m not one of them. But he was a huge mentor thanks to those who raised him…his grandfather and his connections.

  5. I am not a gambler in any sense of the word however, in my younger years I did sit in around the poker table a few times. Where we are now in this political season reminds me somewhat of those times. The amateur poker player will stay in the pot while holding 2 cards to a straight. He is betting that the deal will fill in the 3 cards needed for that straight. In poker terms that’s called “Bettin’ on the come.” The cards that will come will let him win. The experienced player will stay in the pot when holding 4 cards to a flush simply since there are 9 other cards to fill his hand. That is where “Bettin’ on the come” can give you a winner. Today, the conservative movement is holding 4 cards to a flush. The “Come” is the voters and their showing up at the polls. If all freedom loving patriots who desire a return to Constitutional Government “Get in the pot” we can “Flush” this disaster out along with all his Socialist cronies. I’m in. How ‘bout you?
We must also be aware that the ones who want to stay in power may deal from the bottom of the deck. That would be voter fraud and will be rampant in November. Let’s stay observant and watch the dear’s hands.

    • N2ln…

      I’m “All In” as well.

Loved how you put this..truly priceless, it’s made my day so far. 😉

  6. Romney should go to the gym an pump up those shoulders, shave and polish his head, put a gold hoop ring on his left ear and wear tight pants and a white t-shirt.

“If ellected, Mr. Clean will return your country to the sparkling wonderland that made it the greatest place to be in the world. Now is the time to clean up that vile mess in Washington D.C., and I’m the man to do it!”

Here he is working hard in the “White House bathroom”…

  7. Here’s some from Ron Paul, whose kinda of disappeared from the scene lately.

  8. Paul Bonnichsen says:

This post will soon be gone… but if you want to see how arrogant Obama is, read Drudge link.

    • Paul….

I heard that live today…oh, the arrogance of the man.

Can’t wait to post about that all tomorrow.

  9. How come we haven’t heard about this?

    Or this ~

We know full well what the msm would be doing if party and circumstances were reversed!
