Presidential candidate Rick Santorum bowed out of the race this afternoon, and he did so with class. This was most likely due to many scenarios, including the health of his daughter Bella. But when it comes down to brass tacks he faced the reality of the situation knowing he was facing losing his home state of Pennsylvania in the upcoming primary.

Here’s some of what he said today, full speech included in both videos if you’re interested to have a listen to what he said. The full transcript is here.

This is via Fox News Insider:

Moments ago, Rick Santorum announced that he was suspending his presidential campaign. He began by thanking supporters for the outpouring of prayers for his young daughter, Bella, who had been hospitalized over the weekend. He said that her illness provided him with a time for prayer and thought. Santorum said, “We made a decision to get into this race at our kitchen table against all the odds, and we made a decision over the weekend that while this presidential race for us is over, for me, and we will suspend our campaign effective today, we are not done fighting.”

Santorum discussed the privilege of traveling around the country, hearing the stories of Americans. He said, “It has been inspiring to me, the story after story that we’ve been engaged with. And it turns out it wasn’t really my voice that I was out communicating, it was your voice. The voice that you gave me from the stories and the experience that I’ve had.”

Well now folks…surprise, surprise…it only took a matter of minutes after Santorum was done bowing out of the race that good ol’ boy Newt Gingrich had to insert himself in the situation. Oh yes, such decorum from a true southern gentleman…just ask him!

Here’s what he had to say this is also via Fox:

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was just on the Mike Huckabee Radio show, and commented on Santorum suspending his own presidential campaign just moments ago. On the show, Gingrich discussed finally getting to be ’1-on-1′ with Romney, how he will campaign going forward, and a possible debate in North Carolina with the current front-runner.

Below are some highlights from Huckabee’s interview with Gingrich:

“I did not get a heads up in advance. We have been talking for two weeks, and I knew this was a real possibility in his mind. I do know that he had begun to realize that when you are up against all of Wall Street, it is very difficult. The money machine makes it difficult to have a competitive race.”

“I am not focused on going after Romney; I want to focus on the issues and Barack Obama. I will admit it was a slugging match in Florida; people who like me don’t want me down in the gutter. We will see what Governor Romney decides. I am going to focus on the Republican platform and why Obama is a grave threat to this country.”

“Our folks are making calls to undecideds and those for Rick [Santorum]; we have been talking to someone in North Carolina, and there may be a debate […] between Romney and me. I would like to have an open dialogue – just the two of us, a chat.”

Here is the full statement released by Gingrich’s press secretary:

“New Bern, NC – Newt Gingrich released the following statement reacting to Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum suspending his campaign:
“Rick has waged a remarkable campaign. His success is a testament to his tenacity and the power of conservative principles.

“I am committed to staying in this race all the way to Tampa so that the conservative movement has a real choice. I humbly ask Senator Santorum’s supporters to visit Newt.org to review my conservative record and join us as we bring these values to Tampa. We know well that only a conservative can protect life, defend the Constitution, restore jobs and growth and return to a balanced budget.”

Gingrich states he ‘humbly‘ asks…don’t make me laugh! Newt using the word humble is farfetched when it comes to his arrogance and conceit. That’s just my opinion and I’m stickin’ to it. I’ve watched him too many decades to say different. As far as Newt going anywhere from here on out…he’s delusional, plain and simple. I suppose at least beside his own glorious self looking at his reflection in the mirror and patting himself on the back, he has Callista right beside him doing the same as well. Yesiree…two peas in a pod.

Lastly, here’s Mitt Romney’s response today regarding Rick Santorum bowing out:

“Senator Santorum is an able and worthy competitor, and I congratulate him on the campaign he ran. He has proven himself to be an important voice in our party and in the nation. We both recognize that what is most important is putting the failures of the last three years behind us and setting America back on the path to prosperity.”

So folks, looks like it’s ‘Romney or Bust!’

All I know is, it’s ‘ABO!’…What say you?

Plus, for the heck of it…throw out who you think would be a great VP choice and why.

  1. Im in great fear because there is no way Willard can beat Ovomit. Newt has so much baggage he is kind of like Larry King. How do we possibly get Ovomit out?

    (0)
    • oneoar…

Like heck he can’t beat Dear Leader…why in the heck do you think he can’t?

The local dog-catcher can beat the Poser-in-Chief…the msm and there 24/7 false polls are just that, phony!

The more they attack…they more they hurt themselves, ‘We the People’ will fight back and we will win…big time!

  2. Here’s a poll I just saw…but heck, it’s only April.

You can bet those numbers will change the longer we have Dear Leader at the helm.

      i agree big, but…

Mitt has skeletons. The MSM knows this. There has been quite a few liberal hacks hinting at it for months.

Also, Mitt doesnt have a leg to stand on w/ Romneycare vs. Obamacare; not because Romneycare was legal and Obamacare is not, but because most voting Americans are too stupid to understand the difference between a state implimenting government run healthcare and the federal government doing the same.

And last, sadly, I dont think Mitt will ever put on the gloves and take Obama to task.

i dont think it’s gonna happen.

see my previous posts from AWD’s way-back machine, i still predict that the GOP nod(Romney since it started) will win the popular vote, but the electoral college will vote for Obama anyways.

EC members are appointed by “prominent” individuals. the elites. it varys state to state. but it’s the ONLY part of the election process that both sides of the media have ignored during the last 8 years. and it’s the last place that’s been tested for corruption.

O has skeletons in his closet too. We’ll see if there are any skeletons to come out of Romney’s closet…last I looked it was just how he dared to transport his dog on top of his station wagon in a carrier some 20 or so years ago. Yep…that’s bad, really…really bad.

Time will tell, but I think the economy with the marxist at the helm is going to have fury across this land the likes we haven’t seen in a long time come Nov… and we’ll win in a landslide!

  3. Yep. Old Newt and Barny Google will try to take advantage of any situation.

Baaarny Google, with the Goo Goo Goo Googly eyes.

  4. We initially supported Santorum’s presidential run because we truly believed that he was by far the most consistent conservative of the RINO contenders. However, my mother alerted me that she was praying for Santorum’s immediate presidential suspension because she just didn’t feel that America today would ever fully accept another Catholic president.

Unlike the late JFK, she pointed out that Santorum faces far more dangerous enemies of both the Catholic church as well as his conservative principles in the 21st century. No matter what brilliant or strategic plan a President Santorum attempted to implement once in office, the Herculean liberal forces of the DemonRat party along with the biased media establishment would no doubt thwart all of his ideas with their sinister plots while blaming the church for their deadly obstacles!

Don’t think the Mormon religion isn’t going to be attacked, along with Romney too.

The attacks will be fast and furious now…full speed ahead with Dear Leader at the helm. He’s already done so today I’ve heard via radio.

We’ve all got to stick together now to rid ourselves of the most dangerous prez we’ve ever had hold that office.

Just throwing in my two-cents real fast. ~

At least we know Romney is Mormon. Presidunce O has celebrated a Muslim feast, a Jewish Seder, and a Christian prayer breakfast featuring Al Sharpton. In the last six months. There’s no way to predict his religion. The best evidence is that he sat in a nominally Christian church for twenty years but didn’t pay enough attention to know the pastor was an America hating racist lunatic. The guy could worship the moon for all we know!

    • Barry Soetoro says:

So what are you and your mom saying? You prefer a homosexualist like Romney, over the homosexualist Obama?
Maybe you and your mom and about 200 million “supposed” Christians need to do some research on Romney?
When / IF, people EVER bother to look who this guy is, and realize that, – under Romney, Obama’s 180 plus homosexuals in the administration won’t be enough.
And it might surprise you, but I look at the majority of this filth, from a non-Christian viewpoint, (similar to that of Ted Nugent) even though, I profess my hope in being saved by the blood of our Savior.
I do that because, for the most part, the entirety of the “church of men” has become, a MAJOR ALLIE of our COMMUNIST, HOMOSEXUAL sponsoring community, (just as it defends the nation destroying – ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION process). And they do all this, adorning their lies with and by FALSELY proclaiming “victory in Jesus” while being in total bondage to satan – Catholic church leading the way!

So, you might DO, what millions of smarter people are doing or need to DO, if we REALLY WANT TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY back. Start by learning what this apparent chosen, “candidate” of the Republican/communist party is REALLY ABOUT. I encourage you to make an effort to drop by mom’s house, and TEACH HER why, she needs to TAKE BACK HER PRAYERS, (maybe apologize for them too) and PRAY THAT Communist allied NEWT, (who was in it SPECIFICALLY TO DESTROY SANTORUM’S chances) – that he gets tossed out and Santorum jumps back in, and beats the tar out of communist Romney. Or hope that some other moral anti-communist person jumps in NOW.
Go to Mass Resistance DOT COM (with your ill informed MOM) and learn all about where Romney IS going to take us.
As I said, 180 communist homosexual government CZARS, leaders, Judges etc., won’t be nearly enough for homosexualist Romney.

  6. Just a quick note to some here real quick, I also just added for any suggestions from all when it comes to naming a VP pick for Romney in the blog post…and why you think he/she would be best choice type of thing.

    Could be fun. 😉

    (0)
    • BT, I know one name I don’t want for VP and it’s Marco Rubio,….he’s NOT a “natural born” citizen and I am pi$$ed off that the repub RINOs would even consider him,…..what are we going to do, go farther down the unconstitutional “rabbit hole” as Chimpy O has?

Obviously, those bastards think two wrongs make a right, just because Obama has gotten away with it and the constitution be damned!

      The bastards are beyond despicable!

  7. Paul Bonnichsen says:

Like many Americans, Romney was not my first choice; however, I feel sixty percent of America views the current administration as socialist surrounded by Czars who would tear the Constitution to shreds if given the opportunity. I have faith that working America will return to the polls as they did in 2010 and cast votes for a better America… this means booting Obama and his ilk out of office.

As far as VP’s… give me Rubio or West and I’ll be a happy camper.

  8. VP pick for Romney? How ’bout Hillary? She’s mean as a snake and out for revenge. Say what? Oh, a Democrat. Guess I’ll go with Col. West then.

This is related to the election and SHOCKING! Can it be true?

I heard somewhere today via one of the radio talking heads (can’t recall which one at the moment) saying he thought that pit-bull may be Chris Christie because of him going hard and heavy after situations like this ~

        BT,

Christie is of course a Rep., but I’ve heard many say he is along the lines of a John McCain… a politician I absolutely have no use for.

Did like what Christie said in the video… guess I need to do some digging into Christie’s background.

        (0)
        • Hey Paul…please don’t get me wrong, I don’t care for Christie for a few major reasons. I hope he doesn’t ever run for Prez either.

I do like how he takes on the unions, the msm and things like he does in the link I sent.

Btw…I remembered who it was who was talking about Christie being a pit-bull, it was Mark Levin. (he feels as we do in many instances, he just wants him to stay in New Jersey.)

            BT,

Little off this topic… you probably already know Zimmerman’s lawyers will no longer represent him. They say he no longer contacts them… remember my post about O.J. – are sides starting to analyze the consequences of what an innocent verdict would bring in regards to destruction of our cities???

            (0)
          • Paul,

I saw that and posted on the Zimmerman thread.

            Here’s another one.

            http://dailycaller.com/2012/04.....zimmerman/

This has where they were PO’d he talked to Hannity off the record, plus, supposedly he talked to the prosecutor too.

Who knows…his lawyers may not be doing what they should do..I don’t know. I’ll be glad when this is all done and over. (I hope Zimmerman doesn’t have to pay the price for what the left has intentionally done with their agenda.)

            (0)
          • Paul Bonnichsen says:

            BT,

One other thing… In Sanford, the mayor replaced the individual (can’t recall names) who would have made the decision as to whether Zimmerman would have been charged and arrested. His reasoning for replacing that individual was that they were weak and the Mayor felt he or she was incapable of making such decision.

The decision on charging Zimmerman was then to go to the grand jury, but instead, the new appointee who the Mayor put in place decided not to allow the grand jury to make such decision in charging Zimmerman and would do it herself… I know the new appointee was a lady.

Sounds as if people are getting replaced in order to get an outcome to please certain individuals.

            (0)
          • I CANNOT stand that Mayor…I’ve seen him more that once bow to the talking heads on msnbc in the past…and you can bet he had the police dept. completely CLOSE (can you imagine?) yesterday with the handful of protesters that were in attendance yesterday.

I agree with your sentiments about the whole thing at this stage of the game…I mean that.

Steam is starting to slowly build up…no doubt about it.

But, what I have been thinking about is how nasty the primary fight has been…Romney has gone so negative against any opponent he felt theatened by that his approval numbers have really plummeted. Because of this it appears to me he might be the right guy to go against Obongo….because of this negativity.

This is going to be a real nasty 7 months until we kick Obongo out of office…Romney has a lot of practice in going negative. It just may be what is needed to beat the DemonRat Machine and Obongo….If going negative is what it will take then I say go negative.

Romney has proven he can go negative and just maybe going negative will get it done.

Looking forward to the “political death” Of Obongo and the DemonRats that support this fool.

    • Good Morning Bluto…

Did you happen to catch Romney on with Martha McCullen on Fox this morning, he made some excellent points, including who really is the Number One leader when it comes to the so-called War on Women…I loved it!

I’ve thought about possibly making a blog post about it later on…or just putting the link here when I see it. Haven’t decided yet.

Anyway…it was a good interview, he really was good in it.

The full-blown attack on Dear Leader is on…big time!

Btw…he also mentioned that Santorum will be campaigning with him too.

    • Big… If he can’t cover a $500 check it looks like their accommodations in Tampa will be rather sparse. Maybe sleeping in the back seat of the car. Hope all the hotels in Tampa know not to accept any paper from the Gingrich duo. /sarc

  31. Wow…the Newtster wears two-hats when convenient. Now he wuvs, wuvs, CNN dontcha know!

Talk about a sniveling whiner when things don’t go his way. It’s a miracle he doesn’t blame this on Bush too. He sounds like Obama, it’s everybody elses fault except his own.

Newt..go have some cookies and milk, take a long nap until convention time…nobody cares!

Btw…I truly hope this gets back to Fox so we don’t have to listen to his self importance all the time.

  32. Barry Soetoro says:

I’m scarily astonished at what I’m reading throughout this site?

What happened “dude” this IS NOT LIKE YOU?
I know you aren’t authoring most of this, but I would think, compared to how you began, and what you once so avidly proclaimed was wrong with these United States, I am seriously confused that you’ve let your once, honorable and trustworthy site get so full of leftist propaganda and authors who CLEARLY are UN-INFORMED. I suspect, some of them are such – intentionally?

    What am I talking about?
This democrat party designed idea that Romney is our candidate? Any person who REALLY KNOWS the communist allied media and the way they work, HAS TO KNOW, just as “they” designed Obama’s win, are once again, CHOOSING our candidate.
We ALL NEED TO START COUNTERING THIS and get the CORRECT THINKING BACK ON TRACK.
Romney is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT, DEMOCRAT PARTY AFFILIATED AND BEHOLDEN.
We should no more behind him then Obama.
And D**N IT, we need our spines back! – and THIS was one place, I never would have thought would succumb to the game plays of the democrat’s media machine!
SHUT IT ALL OFF and get back on track! PLEASE, you have to know, you were a voice for a long time, it’s beginning to look a lot like the HUFF POST round’ here!
PLEASE, check out and REPUBLISH, Mass resistance DOT com expose on Romney the COMMUNIST PINKO ALLIE!
