The heat was on AG Holder again today from the Senate republicans, a continuation from the recent hearing Rep. Issa had in the House the other day. When it comes to our side of aisle there were some fireworks and Holder wasn’t liking any of it. I’m going to post about some of the individual questions from a handful of what some of the Senators had to say but first let’s begin from last nights segment with Pat Caddell regarding who he says the ‘leaker’ is when it comes to ‘classified’ information that was transmitted to the NYT’s and elsewhere in the the last few months.
This is via GP:
Democratic analyst Pat Caddell told Sean Hannity tonight that he definitively knows former political hack and current National Security Advisor Tom Donilon was the source of the White House security leaks.
Remember this is not any ordinary leak. This is as she (Senator Diane Feinstein) says putting American foreign policy and American lives in jeopardy. The New York Times’ review of Mr. (David) Sanger’s book by Thomas Ricks who is a one of the Pulitzer Prize winners of the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post defense experts. In his review in the New York Times he says, “And throughout Mr. Sanger has clearly enjoyed great access to senior White House officials most notably Tom Donilon. Mr. Donilon is effect the hero of the book in fact the chief commentator and records of events.” It’s all about this stuff. When Gates, when we had the disclosure of SEAL Team 6, Robert Gates went to the White House and told Tom Donilon, “I have a new communication strategy, you know what it is? Keep your effing mouth shut.” Tom Donilon is known for this. He is a political operative.
You can read more here from the full transcript. Ann Coulter throws her two-cents in as well.
‘It looks like Tom Donilon has some explaining to do.’
Next up I wanted to include what former Defense Secretary Rusfeld had to say about these leaks as well before I go on to what happened in the Senate today. This is via FN:
DOOCY: The front page of the NYT seems to have all of our biggest secrets—How bad is it?
RUMSFELD: It is very serious. If you think of the task of the arm forced and the intelligence community it’s to go out around to world and to try to develop relationships with others who will provide information to our country so that we can defend the American people. And to the extent the information that we seek is compromised and we damaged those people that assist us or those countries that assistant us—individuals/ countries are going to be unwilling to cooperate with the United States and turn off the intelligence that we’ve been getting and it will be a damaging thing for our country
KILMEADE: You’ve been there in and out. You’ve seen these leaks before — Where does this stack up when you talk about – put it on context please?
RUMSFELD: Well I’ve not seen it quite this extensive. And I’ve also not seen it at what appears to be a rather high level. The individuals that are doing this leaking clearly have access to highly confidential, highly classified information. In the past I’ve seen it come out it seems at 2 or 3 layers down and it’s a little garbled and a little wrong and serving some purpose for one department or other but in this case it all seems to all be of a kind. It seems to be coming out of the White House and it seems to be all in a manner that is designed to favor the administration and the support them.
Okay friends…now on to some of what happened in the Senate today. I’ll start with Senator Cornyn, this is via FNI:
“You violated the public trust in my view, by failing and refusing to perform the duties of your office. So, Mr. Attorney General, it’s more with sorrow than regret than anger that I would say that you leave me no alternative but join those that call upon you to resign your office. Americans deserve an Attorney General that will be honest with them; they deserve an Attorney General who will uphold the basic standards of political independence and accountability. You’ve proven time and time again, sadly, that you’re unwilling to do so.”
Then we have Sen. Graham…you can read the whole transcript here.
Graham Grills Holder: Special Counsel OK for Valerie Plame But Not For Obama Intel Leaks?
This with Graham was great…hope you check it out when you get the time.
Sen. Graham (R-SC) challenged Attorney General Eric Holder over the special counsel he called on to investigate US intel leaks
Lastly we have Sen. Grassley and Holder, this is where I think Holder is off his rocker…again! This is via FN:
Attorney General Eric Holder testified today before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Oversight member Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) challenged the Attorney General on what “legal ground” he was withholding emails that pertained to leaked wiretap affidavits about the government’s “Fast and Furious” operation.
Holder responds that he is willing to “compromise” on this issue and “work our way through this in attempt to avoid a constitutional crisis”
A Constitutional Crisis my arse! The only crisis this man has caused is on the American people along with the Terry family etc. This scandal when it comes to Holder, Fast and Furious, the national security leaks and Holder refusing to name an independent council is not going away anytime soon. Calls for his resignation are mounting along with the vote in the House next week regarding holding Holder in Contempt of Congress.
We may never know the amount of lives that have been lost because of this administration around the world, let alone at home…but Holder has to go, along with his boss!
Do any of you think Dear Leader will throw Holder under the bus before long…after-all, we know all that matters to that entity is to remain President Preezy first and foremost.
