Have you heard about Lindsey Stone and what she did yet? If not, you’ll see what this woman did in a matter of moments…of course the picture alone speaks volumes. I have nothing but contempt for this creature…but that’s just me. – See what you think about this report and speak your mind!

This is via CBS Boston:

BOSTON (CBS) – Two women have been placed on unpaid leave from their jobs after their photo at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia angered thousands of people on Facebook.

Lindsey Stone was visiting the Tomb of the Unknowns last month on a business trip when she posed for a picture next to a sign that reads “silence and respect.”

In the photo, Stone is pretending to yell and she’s showing her middle finger.

The photo, taken by co-worker Jamie Schuh, went viral and sparked anger among veterans.

“I can understand why veterans would be all upset over this,” says Edward LeBlanc who was in the Air Force for 20 years and served two tours in Vietnam. “It’s disrespectful, she’s telling us to go “F” ourselves and I don’t think that’s real bright and good for anybody.”

Some angry comments were posted on the Facebook page of their employer, Living Independently Forever, Inc.,(LIFE) a non-profit organization in Hyannis that helps adults with disabilities on Cape Cod.

The uproar forced the organization to post this statement Tuesday afternoon:

“On Nov. 19 at approximately 6 p.m., we became aware that one of our employees had posted an offensive, inappropriate photograph on her personal Facebook page. The photo was taken at a national historic site in October by a fellow employee during a trip to Washington, D.C. attended by 40 residents and eight staff. The photo has since been removed from Facebook, and both employees have been placed on unpaid leave pending the results of an internal investigation.

This photograph in no way reflects the opinions or values of the LIFE organization, which holds our nation’s veterans in the highest regard. We are proud to have veterans serving on our staff and board of trustees, and we value their service. The men and women who have selflessly fought and sacrificed their lives to protect the rights and lives of Americans deserve our utmost respect and gratitude. We are acutely aware that this photo has done a disservice to veterans and we are deeply saddened that it was taken and shared in a public medium.”

Stone and Schuh would not comment on camera, but released a statement late Tuesday night:

“We sincerely apologize for all the pain we have caused by posting the picture we took in Washington DC on Facebook. While posted on a public forum, the picture was intended only for our own amusement. We never meant any disrespect to any of the people nationwide who have served this country and defended our freedom so valiantly. It was meant merely as a visual pun, intending to depict the exact opposite of what the sign said, and had absolutely nothing to do with the location it was taken or the people represented there. We never meant to cause any harm or disrespect to anyone, particularly our men and women in uniform. We realize it was in incredibly poor taste, and are deeply sorry for the offense we have caused.

We would also like to apologize to LIFE, Inc. It is an amazing organization that provides invaluable services to adults with learning and developmental disabilities. We are beyond remorseful that our actions have caused them such undue public scrutiny. The disrespect implied by our picture has nothing at all to do with LIFE’s mission statement or values. We regret having caused any suffering to the staff members, residents, families and friends.

Again, we very sincerely apologize to everyone who took offense to the photo. We realize that it was an ignorant and distasteful thing for us to do, but we truly meant no harm. We are deeply sorry. – Lindsey Stone and Jamie Schuh”

Lindsey’s father Peter spoke with WBZ-TV about the incident.

“She had no intention of upsetting or offending anyone,” says Peter Stone. “It was poor judgment and she regrets every part of it.”

Peter says Lindsey loved her job, but there are consequences for every action.

“That was a private page,” he says. “She was goofing around and it got taken off the page.”

“She is very, very sorry for what she did,” says her mother Jeanne, “and she never meant it to be disrespectful to anybody.”

Sarah Wunsch, a Staff Attorney with the ACLU of Massachusetts does not think the women should not lose their jobs over the photo.

“Other people have the right to say, ‘I think she’s a jerk or she’s disrespectful.’ I suppose they have the right to call for her to be fired,” says Wunsch. “But it doesn’t mean the employer should give into that.”

“Offensiveness shouldn’t be the standard for what gets to be able to be said, because what’s offensive to you may not be offensive to me and vice versa,” says Wunsch.

Lindsey’s father says he understands why people are offended.

“I don’t think she was reacting to the site (Arlington Cemetery), she was reacting to the sign,” he says. “I’m appalled myself.”

Did you notice that the good ol’ ACLU had to stick their beak in this as well? Do you think this gal and her pal that took the picture should be fired…or not?

  1. The best thing the ACLU can do, for everyone, is completely fold. They are a bigger enemy to freedom and civil rights than anybody, here or abroad.

And that apology: Typical “I’m sorry I got in trouble” response. I think, even from a legal standpoint (and I readily admit I’m no lawyer), that organization had every right to fire those two. If this group works with people with disabilities, then I’d bet money that Vets are a big part of that group. So good for them for firing those two idiots.

  2. If I took a picture of myself pretending to lynch st. mlk infront of his new statue and got canned from my job aa result, think the aclu would have my back?

  3. As much as I don’t approve of any of this kind of bullsh!t behavior….. particularly that of desecrating fallen soldiers and in particular desecrating the tomb of the unknown…..

I’ve got a feeling that this story tends to ring true……….that maybe this was a serious lack of good judgement on the part of the perpetrators. I would think that this gal is pretty embarrassed by her actions and her lack of sensitivity to one of our own………

We are not like the assholes that call themselves Democrats, the intolerant….I would like to think that we could instill a sense of remorse in this gal for what she did and then a sense of respect for what this soldier did for her the rest of us………

Our veterans were right in their outrage and disgust over this photo, and so am I……but, she did apologize and I think I accept her apology…..after all we are not intolerant hateful democrats………

    • Bluto…

I heard a caller early this morning my time on the Chris Plante radio show declare this was all Bush’s fault because of him being a war-monger type of thing….can you believe this? – Talk about a stretch. Typical lib.

      • I am seeing more unbelievable stories that democrats are accusing us of….racial code words, calling anyone who is conservative racists, neanderthals…..it just won’t stop and it is getting worse now than it was before the election……

Ridiculous and just outright lying on the part of the democrats…..I think the dims have fallen off the cliff….they are really going over board…..it seems it is happening all over the world let alone here in our homeland….things are coming apart at the seems…..it seems as though we are living in a madhouse……

the world seems as though it is turning upside down and inside out…….the world seems as though it is headed for a real breakdown…….

the articles I read on Drudge, WZ, The Blaze, Breitbart, and others are unreal….something is happening…..democrats are doubling down on insanity……something is completely out of control……

        • Yep…I’ve read many on various sites as well. These people are unhinged…period!

I’ve had one saved since yesterday that I think I’m going to post later for the ‘Q of the Day’…there are too many to include, besides that…you and others already know. – Insanity indeed!

          • there seems to be a complete breakdown in logic……libs, democrats and those types are literally coming apart at the seems……

sometimes I think no-one can be this stupid, but they are this stupid……how can anyone in their right mind say and do the things that they say or do..

this stupidity seems to be every where…..every thing they say is outrageous…..untrue and are outright lies, and they all are doing it……one lies and the others swear to it…….

          • …and the majority of the msm helps them spread their lying propaganda too. – Agenda, agenda, agenda.

    ACLU = Loser
    Lindsey Stone = Loser
    ACLU = Lindsey Stone

Why does the ACLU always defend losers?

  5. Spurwing Plover says:

I wonder how liberal scumworms would feel if some did they same to the Draft Dodgers memorial some freaktard put up or did the same to that stupid SPACESHIP EARTH sculpture that eco-freak put out

  6. Wow.. what a disrespectful bitch. worthless heifer is lucky my wife was not there when she did this.. it WOULD have been on the news showing my wife whooping her ungrateful ass. Of course since my wife is a soldier ( over 19 years now ) the MSM would have portrayed it as an assault on some poor helpless civilian by a crazy female soldier. I dont generally hit ladies but…. oh wait.. this bitch aint no lady is she?

What do we expect from a generation of soulless beasts that demand the right to kill babies by ripping them apart in the womb and celebrate the act if men sodomizing each other.. they consider the heroes and values that built this country to be outdated or old-fashioned rules made by neanderthals.. LOL yet they are the ones murdering babies and humping each other like mindless beast’s.. and they call us barbarians?

    • Vince…

You said a mouthful for this gal! – And thank your wife, we are eternally grateful for what she does.

    • My USAF Airman niece would have been there to lecture the beaten broad about her luck to be in this country.
BTW, great work dad. Is she collecting from taxpayers while living in your basement?
      Massachussetts family values..

  7. Remember what Michael Savage correctly said, “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder”. Its a Fascist Mental Disorder, its not curable, ya have to beat them every time. It takes an amoral attitude to be one. That explains much about them. Many animals have a better moral compass then liberals, keep that in mind when your trying to figure them out.

    • Right you are…

Animals ‘do’ have a moral compass…libs have zilch!

    • Steve Sybert says:

Do they have meds for liberalism Or is “happy drugs” and over-medication the problem? Making them face the truth has proved up to be a near-impossibility.

  8. Put in your search bar for sentinels at the Tomb of the Unknowns and you’ll find many links or threads of the guards and what would have happened to this b!tch if she was inside showing all her garbage.

  9. Sandra Bourassa says:

I her and her co-worker’s ability to effectively monitor their charges at LIFE. The members of LIFE’s facilities are extremely vulnerable and deserve someone who will be kind, sympathetic and compassionate, while at the same time having the ability to give the structured guidance they need. The two employees involved in this incident have clearly shown they lack the appropriate judgment in dealing with LIFE’s members. That being said, I am also the mother of an active duty Army officer and am not only deeply offended but quite angered these two employees demonstrated their hatred of my son and our military in general. I say this as my son is his second week tryig to recover from an accident(thanks to our lax immigration laws he was hit by an illegal immigrant who had no license). My would be one of the first to forgive them as he forgave the criminal that decided to enter the US illegally and drive illegally and then hit my son. These two women should be made to see the horrors of war and what it does to those men and women they disrespect and hate so much. Perhaps a trip to Walter Reed to see the sufferings of those who responded to our nation’s call, a nation of which these two women are a part of. No I take it back, she does not need to be fired – she should be drawn & quartered, tarred and feathered, dipped repeatedly in boiling oil, roasted over an open flame, and I will gladly volunteer to do the job.

  10. THIS is what happens when parents no longer beat their kid’s asses when they display such disrespect!

Gah! I can’t even imagine what my father, mother, or GOD FORBID my granny would do to me if that was me in the pic… Adult or not!

  11. Spurwing Plover says:

  12. The problem is there is an entire generation of Americans, (those under 35), who do not have any respect for anything or anyone. There are many exceptions to that, and most of the exceptions are active duty military. Used to be we were as a country brought up to respect certain institutions, and one of the most deserving of respect are veterans and what can be called our Glorious Dead in Arlington National Cemetery.

We have become a nation of self absorbed neurotic assholes, and the ACLU is at the top of the heap representing those who should be kicked to the gutter where they belong. Maybe Linday Stone and her co-worker had a brain fart, or they’re just really stupid. Life is tough, and its even tougher if you’re stupid.

The decline west. Spangler was right.

The leftist ACLU needs to have its tax exempt staus revoked its a radical bunch of agitators

    • along with black theology churches ( Rev Wright )

    • Probably will never happen (as a lot of ex-ACLU lawyers are either judges or politicians)…

But I also think that any current or former ACLU attorneys should be disbarred. For being known associates of a subversive organization. And that’s what they are… tons of them have admitted it.

    • Spur…

Couldn’t agree more! Unfortunately I fear I’ll never see that happen in my lifetime…hope I’m wrong.

  14. Bad judgement? Bad judgement is driving and texting, it’s drinking too much at the company New Years Eve party and making a complete fool of yourself. Did the girl not realize where she was? Evidently, the guard did not catch her in the act, now that would have been worth paying to see.

    • I got to see the ‘light’ version of that display at the Pearl Harbor memorial from on of the Navy boys who had to straighten out some loudmouth, cackling woman.

And she wasn’t doing anything like the fool in this picture!

  15. that worthless twit needs a swift kick in the ass and a slap in the face

  16. As a Cub Scout on Memorial day I would rush to get to the formation area first so I could carry the Flag in the parade. Where has my country gone? I weep!

  17. Just read that this bitch was fired from her job. She should be put in a pillory.

  18. I am with Bluto in this one. She did seem to apologize sincerily. Sure, maybe she only realized her wrong because she lost her job and there was a public outcry, but if someone apologizes, they are ok in my book. If God can forgive me, I cannot do different with my fellow human beings.

    • Gabusan, I’m with you. What she did was reprehensible but there are millions of young people (and some old ones too) who have no concept of respect. Their world is Facebook and American Idol. She thought she was being funny. Probably, in her circles, others thought it was funny.

I believe in the First Amendment. That includes burning the flag and ridiculing leaders. I allow others the right to criticize and ridicule me and I reserve the right to do the same. I say leave the girl alone. She screwed up, apologized, lost her job and hopefully learned something from all this.

      • Sorry to disagree guys, but;
If I run some innocent person over with my car and kill them because of my own callous disregard, indifference or genuine malice, Sorry does Not make it all better. It is time people start accepting responsibility for their actions.
Freedom of speech is harder to argue with, but there is a phrase around where I live, and most of you may have heard it; “Them’s Fightin’ Words”.
I accept her freedom to express herself, but I also accept that words and actions have concequences. Her employer had every right to fire her and I support him or her for it, her critics also have every right to heap scorn on her for it, and I support them too. I hope that they continue to do so for a very long time, and make a civics lesson of her status as a social pariah. The Constitution protects her from criminal liability, it does not protect her, nor should it protect her from the righteous outrage of every decent Citizen, or from social ostracism.

        • True Blue, I’m not sorry she lost her job and I agree she is a worthless pos for her lack of decency at such a sacred location. But she is protected by the First Amendment and I never want to see us saying she doesn’t have the right to take such a tasteless photo.

          • I did not say she didn’t have the right to do so, I only said we have the same right to hate her until the end of the world for it and to ignore her ‘apology’.
I support freedom of speech, even for flag burning hippies -I just had better not catch one of ’em on my lawn, even if he is sorry. My well of forgiveness is running dry these days. :)

          • True Blue, I believe we are in agreement on the issue.

  19. AWD and TrueBlue are BOTH right. Freedom of speech cuts both ways. So… unfortunatelywill we can’t STOP people like her from running her mouth, or even doing what she did. And we can’t put her in jail.

That being said… Actions and words DO have consequences. In this case, these two young ladies’ behavior is offensive to vets, many of whom the LIFE organization likely work with. So for them to keep these two on makes them look bad. And, especially if MA is an at-will state (it may not be, I don’t know)… then the employer has every right to decide who to give jobs to and who not. Plus, one has to be prepared to take what they dish out.

Also… I still don’t believe that those two are truly sorry for what they did. I just didn’t get that after reading their statements. So no, I don’t plan on befriending either one of them in the immediate future. But at the same time… If I was to call for them to be jailed, or tarred-and-feathered… then I would be no better than the intolerant libs that we complain about on here. I at least TRY to practice what I preach. Though I’m not perfect by any means, I can say that I at least TRY…

  20. Just another stinking moron lib like the Chick-Fil-A guy who thought he was so cute with his Youtube video.

  21. I understand both sides on this issue and I’m a veteran. She may not have meant anything wrong by this. It’s one of those things thats wrong because it could be taken offensively. I’m usually disgusted with lib. smart ass women but –she may not have meant wrong, just goofing off and the photo got out.
I would like to see someone address a liberal problem of women purposely acting up in public , and the running to get some men to defend them physically. I’m more and more seeing this —Local women here will purposely pick fights with men (degrade the men for no real reason)– then go get men (woman stupid men) to defend them.

    • From my understanding she put the photo out there herself via Facebook…so there’s no one else to blame but her.

I have nothing but disdain for her. ~

  22. I need to add something here. I’m sticking my neck out here but here goes—–I THINK WOMEN IN GENERAL (NOT ALL WOMEN),…ARE REALLY OUT OF LINE THESE DAYS AND THEIR MEN ARE SO PUSSY WHIPPED IT’S PATHETIC !

  24. RidinShotgun says:

Turn both of them over to the Taliban for a few years, they’ll teach them some manners.

  25. “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel” is a quote attributed to Samuel Johnson which he made in 1775. What this quote means, in my opinion, is that when all else fails, bring out the flag. Everyone will love you then.
The US spends more on its military than the next ten nations combined. Almost everyone has either served in the military, or has friends and relatives that are or were in the military. The US society is closing in on a full generation that has never lived in a country that was not at war. The US is a very military-centric nation. To a large extent the US military now defines America and its values.
Samuel Johnson’s quote is hundreds of years old, and Americans have learned on their own that supporting the US military is a quick and easy way to get approval. This creates a symbiotic relationship between the military
people and civilians. The military people can elevate their social status by flaunting their service. The civilians can show off by displaying fawning adulation for those in the military. The military people enjoy being the object
of all this attention. This creates a self reinforcing feedback loop between the two groups, where the military is elevated further and further to reach god-like status, and the civilians fall all over themselves to pay tribute to these idols. The result is an orgy of exhibitionistic narcissism. When it is perceived that someone is not participating in this groupthink, it creates an opportunity for everyone to confirm and reinforce their patriotic zeal by attacking this threat to their belief system. When it is a blatant and deliberate insult, as Lindsey Stone’s picture appeared to be, the result is an insane competition to see who can be most offended, who can display the most anger, who can be the most publicly hostile, all with one goal- to make that person look good. The more outraged you get, the better you look.
So, to the pack of wild dogs, to the (aptly named) congress of baboons who self-organized to destroy Ms. Stone for tugging at their psychological security blanket, I have this to say- The Lindsey Stone episode is not about disrespecting dead soldiers, or free speech, or a prank gone wrong, or anything else like that.
    It’s all about you.
