THE UN-UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Nearly AWD’s entire adult life (just hit early fifties..graying at the temples but dayum, I’m sexy!), I have been underwhelmed with the performance of the federal government. The Bush, Clintoon, and W Bush years showed me a federal government snowballing into a behemoth, out-of-control spending machine with a horrible return on investment (liberals love the word “investment”). Obama and Washington today have pulled away the facade that our federal government is nothing less than what our Founding Fathers feared when they wrote the Constitution, fought the Revolution and created the Constitution.

There is a saying you’re familiar with that goes “a house divided cannot stand.” I know, I know, all you Bible-thumpers, it’s a biblical scripture. I’m not very religious but I believe it was Leviticus who said that. America is clearly divided and there is zero to little hope of it ever being united again in its present structure. We are living a perfect mixture of the books Atlas Shrugged and 1984 with a dwindling number of producers, a growing number of producers being fed, housed, and clothed by the looters in government. Most Americans today are the proles spoken of in George Orwell’s book 1984. The proles are hypnotized by sports, intellectually insulting tv programs, and celebrity worship. I would venture that 75% of your friends and family can name the finalists on American Idol but cannot name their Congressman.

Values that once made America exceptional and the envy of the world are now openly ridiculed and criticized by politicians in Washington. Proven values such as hard work, thrift, sacrifice, education, self-reliance are all trounced even by the President of the United States. There exist Congressmen who vote on the direction of this country who believe that Guam floats like a cork in the ocean. The Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis stated this week that welfare creates jobs.

The Democrats are totally devoted to penalizing those who create wealth in America. They have bet the farm for decades on taking from the producers and giving to the growing moocher class. The federal government has wasted our treasure fighting wars and rebuilding countries populated with people who despise us. Our leaders have turned their heads as tens of millions of illegal aliens have flooded our country. More than that, illegals have been rewarded with citizenship for their offspring born at no cost to them in public hospitals. Illegals are more than happy to take our welfare, housing, medical services, food stamps, etc while working for under-the-table cash payments.

2013 will mark the fifth year in a row with a trillion plus dollar deficit. To pay for this miscarriage of governance, Washington’s solution is to increase taxes on the producers and print money. How could any country survive such fiscal malfeasance?

Barack Obama is without a doubt the most corrupt leader America has known. With an accomplice propaganda media and a timid Republican opposition, he goes unchallenged as he continually usurps the Constitution. When he cannot threaten or buy votes for his legislation, he creates executive orders and unleashes his federal agencies to achieve his leftist objectives. Questions by Congress have gone unanswered, even ignored, concerning the grossly unconstitutional programs such as Fast and Furious. We will most likely never learn the truth about the murders of Americans in Benghazi by Muslim savages armed with weapons from America. While the mainstream propaganda media worked itself into an uproar because Muslim terrorists were forced to wear underwear on their heads in Abu Graib prison, they hardly raise an eyebrow on Fast and Furious and Benghazi. Why? Because they are part of the leftist agenda to destroy the America we patriots love.

The Republicans are no better. Led by a feckless Republican leadership, they have decided it is better to have a seat at the table of tyranny rather than keep their oath of office and protect the Constitution. Republicans have become the best politicians money can buy.

Can America survive? At this point, do we want it to? AWD long ago tired of being in a republic with people who stand in total opposition to what I believe. To hell with blue states and their socialist leaders and ideology. Why would I want anything to do with Massachusetts, California, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Vermont, etc? I don’t. Why do I want to be subject to “leaders” such as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Charles Schumer, John Kerry, Bernie Sanders, Barney Fwank, Raul Grijalva, and the entire Congressional Black Caucus? I don’t. We have seen the sad results of their ideology. In short, the Democrats stand for liberty for none, poverty for all. Except the ruling elite. This is not the America I love and this is not the America I want for my children or grandchildren. I want my America back.

I remember when America was filled with Americans. Immigrants who migrated here wanted to be part of that great nation. Americans relied on themselves and government was a fraction of the behemoth size it has become. Our national debt could be paid off with what Washington currently borrows daily. We were good, decent, hard-working, honest, and charitable. There weren’t drive-by shootings. Half the country wasn’t on some form of government assistance. It was special to be an American. We were exceptional. Those days are gone.

My America is found in states who have limited government, low taxes, and don’t seek to disarm its populace. There are American patriots in every state who believe and hold sacred these words:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Washington has become what our Founding Fathers feared. We have been governed by corruptocrats unworthy to lead even the most corrupt banana republic. Their tyrannous desires are in direct opposition to the will of half of the population of this country. We have watched them. We have suffered under their corruption. We see their goals and the lengths they will go to achieve them.

There is a great storm ahead for the United States of America. I would like to think this great republic can survive. But republics come and go. And America appears to be at the end of the road. Corruptocrats must realize what they will face from American patriots if they attempt to usurp more of our liberties. They must be fought at every turn by men and women who believe in the wisdom of the Constitution and cherish individual liberty.

We will find out very soon how serious Barack Obama and his minions are about taking our Second Amendment rights. They will find out very soon how we will never allow that to happen. The best days of the United States may be behind us but the fire of liberty burns bright in the hearts of hundreds of millions of patriots. I believe our best days are ahead. However, it may not be as a united republic. This country is broken and appears to be beyond repair. I hope I am wrong.

          • You’d be surprised at how many have told me no, they wouldn’t want to go back in time and go through it again. I’d take another week, month, anything. When I look at a clock with a second hand ticking it away relentlessly it does something to me. But heck, everyone has the same problem, no matter how old they are. Sure does go by in a hurry, doesn’t it. I always thought Coach Bear Bryant looked old, even when I was a kid. He was just 69 when he died in 1983. I’d love for him to have seen Alabama vs. Notre Dame last night. Maybe he did.

    You write like you have arrived at the same point I am at. As an old dude, soon to be 80, I almost cry at many things I see the government creatures do in Washington. I am blessed with an excellent conservative Representative. There are a few other here in Georgia. I cannot say the same for my Senators. They are “compromisers” as defined in the Barney Frank book of turd words.

    For a long time I felt guilty that I believed that the average American is a sheeple and did not know much. I should not have. We are populated with those of no intellectual calculable intelligence on the one side and on the other, those who only care about “what’s in it for me”.

    As you know, for the past year or so, I do not pot as much as I did in the past. I am battling a depression. Not the kind that serotonin or the other inhibitors help people with. My depression is seeing how, regardless f the forts of sites like this, the idiot, anti-American, anti-white, anti-Christian actions and people are growing as steadily as our illegal immigration population. (Another very harmful problem, overlooked by most public and endorsed by Catholics, Jews, Lutheran and just about every damned religion in America.) Their formula is distribute American wealth to aliens. Ri9ght in keeping with the commie in the White House.

    I have advocated for secession for some 5 years now, starting on the old site we used to visit together.

    Your words above, “This is not the America I love and this is not the America I want for my children or grandchildren. I want my America back.”, I believe to be an unattainable goal and secession would be the better answer. I do not want to be ashes before this great country is whole, in spirit, again.

    If we did secede, along the Red states line, we would create a country that would have a major problem with illegal immigrants; and those would be the citizens of the blue states who are conservative. The libs would “redistribute” their wealth to the sluggards who suck at the blue teat. They would of course be more than welcome in the new republic

    It would be difficult, but doable. The same compromising fools in government today, along with a new watch dog Congress of new country citizens for oversight of the wealth to be divided could make it happen, and quicker than the current government could say, “balanced budget, no debt”.

    I feel an anger burning in me that from time to time turns to a great depression. Then I realize the depression stems from that anger. The fact that some of our government officials would make every effort to stop a peaceful solution of secession would further divide the country and add fuel to the possibility of a violent and bitter division.

    As to the feckless GOP. just realize they do not give a feck about us.

  6. Every time I start that cursor at the upper left of the comment box, I just look at it trying to think of something new to say. Some bright idea that will inspire. So after a while, I just start typing and wait to see what comes up on the screen.

    We go to the polls every two years, thinking that our electoral process will work, THIS TIME. We find candidates who seem to espouse what we believe in. They say that they believe in freedom, liberty, small government, low taxes, the list goes on and you all know it by heart.

    But then, something happens to them when they get to DC. John Roberts(may bleeding hemorrhoids be upon him) sold us down the river on Obamacare. The vaunted Allen West votes for Pigford. That pesky skin color thing again. Mitt Romney, didn’t really want to be POTUS anyway, then why the f*** did you waste our time Mittens? John(I can’t stop crying )Boehner gives in to Obama on the fiscal cliff BS. Republican leadership in the House is a joke.

    I meant what I said a while back about not voting anymore. I have more important things to do with my life than take time to go vote for a loser. If congressional republicans are too scared to get in the fight, then get the f*** out of the way so you don’t become collateral damage.

    I’m not giving up my freedom as a free man without a fight. I was born free, and hope to die free. That does not mean that I intend to die on my front porch in a hail of gunfire and flash bangs delivered by overly zealous gendarmes of the Regime. But if that’s the way it ends up, so be it.

    I would rather find a peaceable resolution to the ills our nation faces, but if it comes to blows, I’ll fight. The Red States will become gathering places for Patriots. I’m going to do everything I can to move to a Red State.

    I’ve always been proud of what America stood for, and still am to this day. My father was one of the Greatest Generation and I bragged about his exploits as an aerial gunner on a B-24 Liberator bomber in WW2 to anyone who would listen. I’m proud of my Scottish and French Canadian heritage.

    I’m an American, and I will always act in the finest tradition of our Founding Fathers.

        I descend from English ancestors who came here in the 1600’s, Scottish and German who arrived in the 1700’s, and Cherokee who obviously were already here. At last count, I have 7 Revolutionary Patriots in my ancestry, too. My daddy served in WWII in the Navy–Pacific Theater– on a CVE that was hit by a kamikaze. So I’m American to the core, too, which makes our current state of affairs so dreadful. I’ve been grieving for my country for some time. Really, REALLY grieving.

      Thankfully, I just left there this past week to come home, 3.5 day drive through it and I am happy to be back home.
      True, Baltimore and the surrounding region is challenged but I found pockets of conservatives and similar minded people.
      WRT personal protection…try any pawnshop for a serviceable pump shotgun, take it home and clean it with a tooth brush and carb or break cleaner and then wipe the inards down with a light coat of wd40.
      Cycle and shoot in a safe place. If it hangs up, do step 1 and 2 again…then consult a gunsmith.

    Dude, a very good essay. I have been saying this the last 25 of my 60 years on this planet. You can’t fix stupid but only control it’s effects on society. I knew once the hippie university educated crowd infested media and politics, we were in for an uncomfortable march for their version of progressive utopia that would threaten the Republic. I experienced this coming home from the Navy to complete college and be productive citizen. The educational system is a rats nest that needs serious pest control. If you really reflect on it, the Republics slide has been facilitated by dumbing down the electorate which you pointed out mentioning the entertainment industry driving the culture and narrative. The only way to remedy the “culture smog” is to overhaul media and education, otherwise we all pissing in the wind.

    AWD, your best post to date (since I’ve been hanging around, anyway—-roughly a year).

    My experience is that I am only in my mid-forties and I’ve watched this country get worse and worse, especially escalating in the last fifteen years. I can only imagine what someone my mother’s age—-66—-is feeling. I recall that when I was a child I spent a lot of time with my mother since my parents believed that she should stay at home and raise my sister and me until we were both school age (my sister is two years younger than I), and I spent a lot of time with my mother. I could feel her stress with regard to the terrible things that happened around the time my sis and I were born and as we were growing. There were RFK and MLK’s assassinations, riots, student protests, Viet Nam, rising grocery prices; the dollar dropped, robberies increased, and people in general were less trustworthy than say, only five years before.

    She explained to me why she was so stressed but as a young child I couldn’t understand. Over the years, she and my father both explained to me the difference between liberals and conservatives, a republic and a democracy, and right and wrong. They were compelled to do so because I was the first generation to be indoctrinated with far-left ideas in the public schools, so I had a lot of questions since my parents’ teachings contradicted those of the school I attended. And, I had also begun to read the newspapers, the worst of which were the eternally liberal Atlanta Journal & Atlanta Constitution, who have since merged.

    For the most part I felt like a conservative with liberal leanings. I voted for Reagan in 1984, days after I turned 18. However, by the time Clinton rolled around, I voted for him in the first election, although I had quit college in part because it was too leftist for me. Ah, youth. It was confusing.

    But, when Clinton turned out to be a nightmare, I turned fully right, voting for Dole and then McCain against Obama. Little good it did me (or us).

    The thing is, I believe all of we patriots have learned a lesson in these last twenty years or more. We have learned that all we really wish to do is to be free. Free to choose, free to worship or not, free to use our hard-earned dollars our way. We also wish for freedom FROM having socialistic ideas shoved down our throats. But, since we, those of us over 40, are the children of either the Greatest Generation or the Baby Boomers, we are the last bastions of hope. We are not completely indoctrinated. We are not brainwashed by hip hop culture and reality television. We remember, or we knew from our parents, a time when there was real honesty, hope, love, charity, and patriotism in our country. We watched our parents hold their hands over their hearts every time the National Anthem was played, and they sang along, knowing the words. Some of us know them, too, and I weep when I hear or sing them.

    So, what we are seeing is our country being quite literally torn from us. What we believe, what we KNOW to be right and good and worth dying for is almost gone. Our kind are told to shut up and mind our own business while the new kind, the illegal immigrants, the celebrities, the flotsam from Somalia, the Muslims, the Alinskyites, the environmentalist wackos (thanks, Limbaugh), and any other “group” is allowed, nay, encouraged to scream at the top of their lungs and celebrated for it.

    Meanwhile, I can look forward to joining AARP (never, ever) and becoming a “kept” person. No, thank you. Instead, I will fight. I have opportunities every single day to speak out against this onslaught of tyranny and I do so. Mine may be a voice crying out in the wilderness but I will not be silenced. I’m personally taking up the torch.

  17. Don’t blame the socialist parasites for winning the war. Blame the producer class for losing it. We had an election that should have been about whether we believe in what the Founders created, and we turned it into a referendum on abortion, contraception and gay marriage, none of which are even federal issues! The Christian Right has succeeded in making the GOP the party of white christian men who live below the mason-dixon line. That’s a good start for an affinity group, but not a majority political party. All we want is limited government, repeal of every law passed since 1915, and a foreign policy which doesn’t require us to invade every swamp and desert in the world. Can’t we just focus on that?

    Mark Levin, in his book Liberty and tyranny called government under this regime a “soft tyranny”. I was pissed and screaming out loud having grown up with this Chicago crap. Some of us knew this from day one was full blown Tyranny, the likes we had never seen. Most buried their head or worse sung kumbiya.

    I have (2) Grandfathers who fought in WW2. Both gone but never forgotten,
    Their struggle is burned in my memory forever. Have you noticed as the last of the greatest generation is silent, the country goes to hell?

    I would like to add this in closing. The North is asleep folks.
    I am truely hoping that the South will make a stand. This Yankee would stand proud next to any brethren in the South that would stand up against Tyranny, if they will let me!

      Rockets, including my stepgrandfather, I had three that fought in wars. My mother’s dad fought as a Marine at Iwo Jima and earned two Purple Hearts. My stepgrand fought with the Army in Korea, and my father’s dad fought in the Navy in the South Pacific. Going way back, my father’s ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War and for the Confederacy in the Civil War.

      My own father narrowly avoided Viet Nam because I was on the way and because of a medical condition, but I feel he definitely served his country by becoming a deputy sheriff later in life and by being a conservative, and then by collecting and taking great care with firearms. I’m eternally grateful he pushed me with regard to learning to handle and fire a gun.

      He had always said there would be revolution in his lifetime but he died early from his condition, 17 years ago at the age of 51. The one thing I am grateful for is that he didn’t live to see what happened to this nation.

      It is disheartening to hear that your conservative friends would simply hand their guns right over. And a thought has just occurred to me. I wonder if any Constitutional lawyers are bucking up for the legal fight for which they could certainly have many clients. It seems to me there could even be a class-action lawsuit against the government for attempting to violate the people’s Second Amendment Constitutional rights, should it come down to it.

  21. Obviously insane people are being allowed to vote – just look at the results. I call the USA the world’s largest freak show but the joke is on us. It’s hard to laugh it off anymore. The bloggers here are great folks who deserve better than they’re getting. Those who vote for Democreeps are generally getting what they deserve. My WWL relative (wealthy white liberal) has a chemistry Ph.D, age 87 or so and votes liberal Demo, even contributes money to those dirtbags. You’d think he would have figured it out by now. I try to stay away from such people, haven’t seen him in years.

  22. This was a really good piece. Clear, honest, well written. Thank you. I agree with your statements and appreciate you writing this. I wish I could argue the points, but I too have lost all faith in anyone within our government. They cannot be trusted.

    I want to scream and shout, ” Are you crazy” to people, but I see the glassed over look in heir eyes and know, there is no longer any point.

    Sending emails, letters, making phone calls and tweeting to my Representatives, does not work, now. I am not sure what we do next. Is it waiting for the next step? How many lines in the sand will we draw? What is the final line in the sand? In the end, who will stand?

    These are things I ponder.
