Evidently this news is a first when it comes to polls. First thing that comes to mind is ‘only 53%?’ Then again…it may be much higher than this seeing that this poll was conducted by liberal leaning poll company.

Nevertheless, check out this report and see where you stand regarding this issue: – This is via NewsMax:

For the first time, a majority of Americans feel that the government threatens their individual rights and freedoms, according to a survey released on Thursday.

Fifty-three percent of the 1,502 adults surveyed Jan. 9-13 by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press responded that they believe that the federal government threatens their personal rights and freedoms.

The Pew survey found that 43 percent disagreed.

The findings come as President Barack Obama begins his second term and differ from survey results from March 2010, when adults were divided on the issue. Forty-seven percent agreed that the government represented a threat to personal freedoms, while 50 percent disagreed, Pew found.

Men, the survey found, are more likely than women to believe their rights are under assault, while Republicans — 70 percent — are far more likely than Democrats — 38 percent — to say so.

But 76 percent of conservative Republicans said they feel threatened by Washington, compared with 62 percent three years ago, Pew found.

Even survey respondents who said they do not feel that the federal government is encroaching on their rights, many are frustrated with it.

Seventy-three percent told Pew that Washington does the right thing rarely or not at all, compared with 26 percent who do, Pew found.

Does any information in this poll give you any kind of hope for our nation at this stage of the game…or not?

  1. Here’s another reason folks across this land might be more than madder than hell and not gonna take it anymore!

King Obama barks orders again…tells the court to get you know what!

    • Snake Oiler says:

Perhaps it should have said ‘A majority of thinking Americans…’ or ‘A majority of Americans capable of rational thought…’. Look at the huge discrepancy between Republicans and doomocrats.

      • Snake….I noticed that huge discrepancy too, speaks volumes does it not?

Btw…wanna bet this number is higher too?

        • Snake Oiler says:

I would not be surprised. It is my understanding that the labor force participation rate is the lowest it has been in decades.

          This one was pretty good…

Bob walked into a sports bar around 9:58 PM.
He sat down next to a blonde at the bar and stared up at the TV.
The 10 PM news was coming on. The news crew was covering the story of a man on the ledge of a large building preparing to jump. The blonde looked at Bob and said, “Do you think he’ll jump?” Bob said, “You know, I bet he’ll jump.” The blonde replied, “Well, I bet he won’t.” Bob placed a $20 bill on the bar and said, “You’re on!” Just as the blonde placed her money on the bar, the guy on the ledge did a swan dive off the building, falling to his death. The blonde was very upset, but willingly handed her $20 to Bob.”Fair’s fair. Here’s your money.”
Bob replied, “I can’t take your money. I saw this earlier on the 5 PM news, so I knew he would jump.” The blonde replied, “I did, too, but I didn’t think he’d do it again.” Bob took the money.

          • Roaring with laughter…that’s another great blonde joke! – Thanks, I needed that. 😉

          • Snake,

Great joke!! One of the best I have heard in a long time.

          • Snake Oiler says:

Thank you. In this crazy world, it’s good we can still laugh about something.

          • That’s about all we have left at this stage of the game. ~

          • Snake Oiler says:

BT – you likely believe I never have a serious moment, but this is one of them. I have posted at least part of this before, but it is worth repeating. In the aftermath of the Johnstown Flood of 1889, these events transpired:

On the embankment near the depot, just back from where Hastings had his headquarters, the chaplain of the 14th Regiment, H.L. Chapman, and David Beale began conducting the first services since the flood.
There were no more than thirty people gathered at first, but as time passed the crowd grew. Soldiers hanging about nearby drifted over. People came from the depot and over from the center of town. Beale stood on a packing box and told a story about overhearing a newcomer in the valley ask a small boy how bad things were in Johnstown, to which the boy was said to have replied, “If I was the biggest liar on the face of the earth I could not tell you half.”
The rest of the service went as might be expected until John Fulton got up and started saying things that soon had the crowd stirring.
He said the Cambria shops would be rebuilt. “Amen!” answered several voices. “Johnstown is going to be rebuilt,” he said. “Thank God!” someone answered again.
He said he could not speak for the Gautier works, but he was sure, nonetheless, that they, too, would be rebuilt, and bigger than ever. The Cambria men would be taken care of, he told them, and if you still have your family left, he said, then “God bless your soul, man, you’re rich.” His sermon was simple: “Get to work, clean up your department, set your lathes going again. The furnaces are all right, the steel works are all right. Get to work, I say. That’s the way to look at this sort of thing…Think how much worse it could have been. Give thanks for that great stone bridge that saved hundreds of lives. Give thanks that it did not come in the night. Trust in God. Johnstown had its day of woe and ruin. It will have its day of renewed prosperity. Labor, energy, and capital, by God’s grace, shall make the city more thriving than ever in the past.”
            “Amen!” again from the crowd.

Now, after this great and most recent political disaster has been visited upon us, think in terms of the US as Johnstown. I may be foolish to believe that that sort of spirit still exists, or that it is there in a sufficient quantity, but to think otherwise would be to give up all hope. And if none other, these words certainly stand out:

“…and if you still have your family left, he said, then “God bless your soul, man, you’re rich.”

          • Priceless Snake. (and I most certainly do think you have many serious moments, you’ve shown that many a time past and present.)

I do think this nation has the same spirit…more than we think they do. Unfortunately, at this time in our lives it seems hopeless that way now and then. They didn’t have all the rules and regulations businesses have on them today, Big Brother would be sure to interfere with what they did back then….on their own, with sheer willpower. – We the People are losing our freedoms daily…we must put some kind of a stop to this.

Nevertheless…the sum of your post says it all, that is what really matters.

          • Snake and all…

Here’s one more fact, that most of us with brains that work already know. ~

  2. The problem in Washington and Guvmint in general is WE have allowed these assholes to thnk they are dong the leading… SO they promote their own bullshit agendas knowing they are relatively free to go nuts till the voters actually get off their ass and vote them out..Far too many have an “opinion” but don’t do a damn thing about it.. Get off your ass America ,,the country is being stolen right out from under us and if we don;t react we’re screwed with noone to blame but ourselves…

  3. If you stay off the radar, you really don’t have much to worry about. Big Brother is very busy chasing his own tail.

  4. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-G.....In-Trouble

Appears Texas is carrying the rest of the US. Say what ya want about Perry and Texas, its become damn prosperous and still free for the State interference.

  5. Why should I feel my rights and freedoms are being threatened just because of a handful (20 million) of people who are being supported through money taken from me? So what if illegals take 8 million American jobs? So what if someone is trying to cancel the Second Amendment?

At least the words on paper of the Declaration and Constitution are still there—-aren’t they????????

    • misterb….
I don’t know, the words are still there…but the words seen to be getting trampled upon time and again, especially with this administration…the likes of which we’ve never seen happen at such a rapid pace. ~

  6. Spurwing Plover says:

Time to demand for Obamas impeachment for his abuse of the power of office

  7. majorityofone says:

I sometimes think it’s a blessing that the electorate keeps sending incompetent boobs to DC. A description that covers the nearly the entire Congress, the Executive, and most of the Supreme Court. Think of the pickle we could be in today if Harry the Red, Nazi Pelosi, You Didn’t Build That and the list goes on, were actually competent at something besides evil and corruption.

  8. This is a great place to put this. ~

  9. Mr. Grumpus says:

Heck, I can’t even convince my wife that our government is trying to steal our freedom. How on earth would I convince anybody else?

  10. Hubby got you chopping wood again tonight… or are you just ashamed of making fun of me regarding my post about Bob Menendez… anyway, where you at girl???

Just think BT… Americans with a brain are realizing Obummer is taking away our freedoms while the stupid love them a Messiah. Only thing Obummer is taking away from me is the ability to make a living… and things on the horizon are not looking good… government once again allowing individuals to purchase homes with nothing down and incomes not capable of paying for mortgages.

    • Hey there Paul…just got back to the computer, just wanted ya to know I’m still around. – Much has gone at home tonight…hope I get my info I’ve had saved to put here tonight, just not looking likely….then again, you never know when it comes to me. 😉

  11. This poll certainly implies 47% are just fine with the way things are.

Those numbers are strangely familiar, where have I heard that 47% comment before.
