Wait until you read this…it’s simply unbelievable what’s happening to this business owner from Oregon! Aaron Klein declined to take an order for a wedding cake at his place of business because the couple involved that are to be wed are of the same sex. – How dare he do such a thing, it’s not really his own business, the state wants control of what he can and cannot do when it comes to who he decides to provide his service to.

Here’s the report…see what you think about this. – This is via TB:

An Oregon man may have broken the law and is facing a state investigation after refusing to bake a cake for a same-sex couple’s wedding, KATU reports.

KGW has details on the story:

It started on Jan. 17 when a mother and daughter showed up at Sweet Cakes by Melissa looking for the perfect wedding cake.

“My first question is what’s the wedding date,” said owner Aaron Klein. “My next question is bride and groom’s name … the girl giggled a little bit and said it’s two brides.”

Klein apologized to the women and told them he and his wife do not make cakes for same-sex marriages. Klein said the women were disgusted and walked out.

“I believe that marriage is a religious institution ordained by God,” said Klein. “A man should leave his mother and father and cling to his wife … that to me is the beginning of marriage.”

“I’d rather have my kids see their dad stand up for what he believes in then to see him bow down because one person complained.”

One of the women filed a complaint on January 28– also saying Klein referred to them as “abominations unto the Lord”– and now the Oregon Attorney General’s civil enforcement officers are investigating the claim.

But Klein says he never used harsh language and has no problem with homosexuals; he just doesn’t want to be a part of their marriage.

“I honestly did not mean to hurt anybody, didn’t mean to make anybody upset, [it’s] just something I believe in very strongly,” he told KATU.

When asked whether he’d be willing to lose his business over the matter, Klein said: “If I have to be to, I guess, be penalized for my beliefs, then I guess, well, that’ll be what it is.”

The case now presents a unique legal dilemma, according to reports, since Oregon law forbids discrimination based on sexual orientation, and the U.S. Constitution protects Klein’s freedom of religion.

Klein has two weeks to file his official account what happened before the attorney general’s office decides how to proceed.

KATU has more on the story, including an interview with Klein:

Freedom and free enterprise have bit the dust in many ways because of the powers that be in various forms over the decades, it’s going at a rapid pace now across this land and looks to be unstoppable!

Why in the world didn’t this gay gal just move on and order her cake somewhere else instead of suing? This is getting to be another bane on our society in a big way…in the meantime, they just tell us to go eat cake!

I don’t know about you…but if he and his wife can afford it, I hope he takes this all the way to the Supreme Court if need be. This has to stop…before this country is totally baked!

Simply a disgrace when it comes to what’s happening to our once great nation. – What say you?

Yet another almost unbelievable example of leftist insanity.

What ever happened to the right of refusal? Since when does race, sexual orientation, gender, handicap, or any other protected grouping factor in to baked goods???

This man owns a private business. It is not the welfare office or the DMV. The state has absolutely no grounds, in my opinion, but now the owners have to fight them.

Groups preach tolerance but in fact, they’re intolerant and so much so that they wish to shut this man down. He needs a Chick-Fil-A movement and he might just get one.

You know I agree with your post in total…but the suggestion at the end is a good one! – I bet if this couple had a chain of this bakery business that Chick-Fil-A movement could happen. Sure hope they are getting plenty of support from those in Oregon.

      • Remember free enterprise ? We have little of it left. Oregon is a left-wing state. I’ve been to most of the Western states but not Oregon. Remember the Oregon guy they busted for trapping water on his own property? Imagine that happening in Texas, Wyoming or any deep South state. Your beliefs are fine as long as they are in line with those of the ruling class. The great Joe Sobran (Sobran.com) once remarked that freedom is coming to mean little more than the right to ask permission.

  3. Good god!!! Why in the hell can’t we express our honest beliefs? If he does not agree with faggots and lezzies getting married why can’t he say so. What the hell happened to freedom of expression. The damn PC correct a$$holes can kiss mine.

    • Howdy Paul…

Whatever happened to a private business owner having the right to refuse service to anyone? – We are not free anymore, period.

Big Brother’s strangling all us in one way or the other 24/7! Infuriating.

    • Amen to that…we need more like him to do the same. If they don’t, our nation will go asunder…and we’re on the brink of that now. ~

    • Hey dr bob, long time now see.

Btw…I bet they wished they weren’t in Oregon right about now. Their laws are total insanity. It’s been sad to watch many states in the NW go blue in my lifetime, and Oregon has been one of them.

  9. Would all of you angry white people still be angry if he had denied making a cake for a black couple? Probably so after reading some of these comments. Only religious organizations can discriminate against gays. So, unless this guy has a non-profit status and spreading his religious message is the focus of the organization, he is in deep water. This has played out all over the country already.

    • Its his business so he can do what he feels right about. gays can burn in hell for eternity.maybe you should troll somewhere else.

Tyrone, I will go ahead and answer this although I don’t believe that what a private business owner does, short of stealing customers’ money or some such thing, is something the state should weigh in on.

Personally, I disagree with this proprietor’s beliefs. I’m not religious. I am all for gay rights. However, I think that there is nothing wrong with the right of refusal. He’s not selling houses and is not a government employee or employer.

As for the religious aspect you pounced upon, what about observantly religious Muslims? Should their businesses be forced or coerced into selling to openly gay customers? Should they be sued and/or investigated if they refuse service or goods? I guarantee you they won’t even allow gays, and plenty of other people their religion teaches them to shun, to knowingly enter their doors much less sell goods or services to them. Who is suing them? If you or anyone can find a story on this please link it here because it would be news to me.

The suing party here could have taken their business elsewhere and then used their First Amendment rights to decry him to friends and family. Instead, they chose to take it to the state so that the state can ruin him financially. Why?

This man’s being treated like a cross burning KKK member and I think that’s unfair.

    • How do you surmise that the comments posted on this thread has anything to do with the race of the person Tyrone? Hmmm? – You’re inserting something here that has nada to do with this man and his right to refuse service in his own private business. – If they didn’t like his religious views they can go elsewhere, or make their own friggin’ cake!

      • Cinnamon Girl says:

As you can see from the photo, the owner has placed religious iconography on the walls. It’s possible he also plays Christian music in the background of his shop.

It’s just occurred to me that he was probably targeted. Whether I agree with him or not, it’s beyond unfair. If I were an attorney I’d take his defense case on for free just to fight for him.

        (0)
        • CG…

Targeted is right. I was going to mention that earlier today as well, just didn’t have the time too…then when I did, I forgot about it. – I thank you so much for pointing that out in the great way you did. :-)

          Btw…methinks Tyrone is a race-baiter. ~

    • @Tyrone

Lame, so lame. Conservatives are typically not in the collectivist mindset like Liberals, so don’t lump everyone together. Many good folks here at AWD.com think the world of black folks, I’m not one of them.

  11. Why the hell are anal sex freaks considered a protected minority? What is so special about a man putting his penis in the anus of another man that makes them so celebrated in this country? Since when did stirring shite with your dipstick make you such an enlightened person? This country is full of disgusting freaks… baby murdering, fudge packing, heathens.. we deserve whats coming

I hope this man sticks to his guns instead of caving under the bullying from the “tolerant” left

    (0)
    • yes I know the story was about two brides but my point remains the same… how did sexual perversion become celebrated as a constitutional right? Freaks like this dont want equal rights they want legislated acceptence… never going to happen.

      (0)
      • Cinnamon Girl says:

While I hold different views from many on this site, I think that legislated acceptance is akin to Thought Police.

The very same people in these groups who so wanted to blend in are taking advantage of special treatment and have no problem with legislating morality so long as it benefits them and hurts others. I just wish everyone could just agree to disagree whenever it happens and move on.

Unfortunately, when the state gets involved in our lives they only serve to attempt control. Our minds should never, ever, be controlled, only our actions and only then if they are physically violent.

We should have a right to our opinions and a right to voice them. Those who are trying to do nothing more than abide by their own rules are being ostracized at best and ruined at worst. This is not the American, democratic, or free people’s way. This is not what any man or woman should be subjected to.

Perhaps this baker broke a law in Oregon. If so, I will be saddened to learn such a law was on the books because it’s my belief the state should stay the hell out of our minds.

  12. Kudos to him! He has the right to make that decision. Whatever happened to freedom of speech. Seems to me that these days if you are not gay or lesbian you are treated like a freak. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Who is investigating this case??? Barney Frank??? The insanity continues!

  15. OBAMA SLIPS GAYS INTO IMMIGRATION PLAN

Bill Donohue issued the following remarks today:

On Monday, a bipartisan committee of U.S. senators offered a reasonable proposal to reform our immigration policy. Yesterday, President Obama, speaking in Las Vegas, outlined his ideas, and while they differed somewhat from the senatorial plan, they were not dramatically different. However, Obama’s speech did not include all that he is proposing: he made no mention of his decision to include homosexuals in his immigration proposal.

Yesterday, the White House released a “Fact Sheet” on the subject, “Fixing our Broken Immigration System so Everyone Plays by the Rules.” Toward the end of this statement is a section, “Keep Families Together” that includes the following sentence: “It [the proposal] also treats same-sex families as families by giving U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents the ability to seek a visa on the basis of a permanent relationship with a same-sex partner.”

In other words, homosexual unions are to be treated equal in status to naturally formed families. The term “permanent relationship” is, of course, shorthand for what the Obama administration seeks to redefine as gay “marriages.”

Thanks so much for that information. We know we aren’t going to hear about this via msm…naturally.

One things a fact, there are days that I can’t take anymore from the powers that be, and this is one of them. – I want to scream to high heaven when it comes to what’s happening to our nation.

You’ll like it. My wife talked me into watching it. I had my doubts, thinking it would be a chick flick, but it turned out ok. I didn’t buy it though. :-). I’m tired of supporting Hollywierd and the anti-American lunatics and their agenda. Certain movies–anything that has Matt Damon or Sean Penn, for instance–you couldn’t pay me to watch!

  18. Perhaps Mr. Klein will be joining Chris Culliver of the SF 49ers at the re-education camp for “sensitivity training”.

You might recall Culliver dared to say that he didn’t want to share a locker room with gays. To the Gulag!

Nothing would surprise me this day and age. You make a great point here too, I’ve kept up with what you’re speaking of regarding Culliver, we’re at the point of ridiculousness in this nation.

AIDS was and is bad. Something much worse is coming because of the homo’s arrogant and militant pride in an abominable and unnatural “lifestyle” CHOICE that violates the laws of nature. If God does not punish these perverts, he will have to apologize for Sodom and Gomorrah. Since He is not a respecter of persons (meaning he does not favor one over another) payday is coming down the pike.
