As we speak, Senator Rand Paul and a handful of other American statesmen are into the tenth hour of filibustering the Obama nominee to head the CIA, John Brennan. Bless them for having the guts to stand up for Americans and the Constitution!

Interestingly, today is the anniversary of the day the Alamo was overrun by the Mexican forces of Santa Anna. To show support to Senator Paul, Texas Senator Ted Cruz read the letter written by Colonel Travis as the Mexican troops were strengthening:

The men who chose to remain at the Alamo were under no illusion they would ever walk away from that sacred mission. They faced certain deaths but chose to remain and fight. The corruptocrats in Washington today make a mockery of those brave patriots who died for something greater than themselves. Not surprisingly, when Senator Cruz read Col Travis’ letter, John McCain and ten other wussypants Republicans were having dinner with Obama. They may all go to Hell.

AWD criticized Senator Paul when he voted for confirmation of Chuck Hagel, the first openly retarded Secretary of Defense. Senator Paul is not in good graces with me for that but this filibuster is winning him major AWD points. Ted Cruz continues to astonish AWD with his intelligence, drive, and love of the Constitution.

Not surprisingly, Senators supported by the Tea Party movement like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Marco Rubio are involved with the filibuster. Perhaps these brave Senators would have chosen to remain at the Alamo while wussypants RINOs like McCain, Lindsey Graham and a whole hell of a lot of others tucked tail and ran.

The American spirit will never die as long as the love of liberty and justice burns in the heart of at least one patriot. Yet, we are millions!

Today, we remember the Alamo. Tomorrow’s cry should be “Remember the Constitution!”

You can watch the filibuster live here.

Paul and Cruz are making me proud to be an American. A rarity from Capitol Hill. Horse-face McConnell just tried to score some Tea Party points, but kudos to him for at least helping out.

    • Horse-face (good name) Mitch tried to keep Rand Paul out of the Senate. McConnell reminds me of a smaller Edward Andrews (1914-1985), Griffin, Georgia native, character actor, still pops up on the screen in many old TV shows. Mitch gets along to go along, is just glad to be there. Rand is the real deal, more consistent than Marco Rubio, who speaks well of foreign aid, which Rand hates. McConnell loves foreign aid also. I say shut it down. A cause for concern : Clintonoid Strobe Talbot (remember him?) praises Marco. Talbot claims Marco has a good world view. When liberals say good things about someone, watch out. Yes, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz : two winners. TC : There’s the Hispanic everyone claims we need on the ticket. Marco is a sharp guy and needs to stop listening to liberals. They do not have our best interests at heart, to say the least.

  3. Would have more to say but ya got me on Leonard Cohen again. Some of the finest music I have heard, beautiful person with the gift words, a wordsmith unparalleled. I’ll spend the rest of tonite and tomorrow with his pieces, I’m addicted.

    • Michael, listen to the words of the Cohen song “Closing Time.” You can find it on YouTube.

      • Just did. Complex song and words. As a wordsmith he operates on many levels with themes woven in and out and the musical composition is great, and its got that Honky Tonk feel to it. Got one gift cart from iTunes and will be getting all Cohen. He is rare for me. I love all his stuff. Tremendous back up people. Sharon Robinson is great. I love the video of him getting inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I have to get him loaded on my iPad and with Blu Tooth headphones I’m in another world. I’m glad you post his music. Thank You!

At dawn of day, on Palm Sunday, March 27th, the Texans were awakened by a Mexican officer, who said he wished them to form a line, that they might be counted. The men were marched out in separate divisions, under different pretexts. Some were told that they were to be taken to Copano, in order to be sent home ; others that they were going out to slaughter beeves ; and others, again, that they were being removed to make room in the fort for Santa Anna. Dr. Shackleford, who had been invited by Colonel Guerrier to his tent, about a hundred yards southeastwardly from the fort, says: ” In about half an hour, we heard the report of a volley of small-arms, toward the river, and to the east of the fort. I immediately inquired the cause of the firing, and was assured by the officer that ‘ he did not know, but supposed it was the guard firing off their guns.’ In about fifteen or twenty minutes thereafter, another such volley was fired, directly south of us, and in front.

At the same time I could distinguish the heads of some of the men through the boughs of some peach-trees, and could hear their screams. It was then, for the first time, the awful conviction seized upon our minds that treachery and murder had begun their work ! Shortly afterward, Colonel Guerrier appeared at the mouth of the tent. I asked him if it could be possible they were murdering our men. He replied that ‘ it was so ; but he had not given the order, neither had he executed it.’ ”

In about an hour more, the wounded were dragged out and butchered. Colonel Fannin was the last to suffer. When informed of his fate, he met it like a soldier. He handed his watch to the officer whose business it was to murder him, and requested him to have him shot in the breast and not in the head, and likewise to see that his remains should be decently buried. These natural and proper requirements the officer promised should be fulfilled, but, with that perfidy which is so prominent a characteristic of the Mexican race, he failed to do either ! Fannin seated himself in a chair, tied the hand-kerchief over his eyes, and bared his bosom to receive the fire of the soldiers.

As the different divisions were brought to the place of execution, they were ordered to sit down with their backs to the guard. In one instance, ” young Fenner rose on his feet, and exclaimed, ‘ Boys, they are going to kill us—die with your faces to them, like men !’ At same moment, two other young men, flourishing their caps over their heads, shouted at the top of their voices, ‘ Hurrah for Texas !’ ”

  6. John McCain is a worthless. One might think our senior republican politicians might at least have the curtesy not to dine with Obama while their colleagues filibuster.

    (0)
    • Yep…I heard his little side-kick Lindsey Graham was with tonight too. – Two Peas in a Pod!

      (0)
      • I’m surprised Tom Coburn would not show some respect for his colleagues by not dining with Obama while they filibuster Brennan. Then again, free anything is hard to pass up by our puke politicians.

        (0)
        • I wished I could say I was surprised by what Coburn did tonight…but I’m not, not at all. He’s changed the longer he’s stayed there. I’ve been really disappointed in him joining the gang over the last two years. – Ya, he still fights the good fight in some ways…but it’s all talk anymore, he’s joined the rest of the them until he exits…which isn’t going to be long from now.

Sad what happened to him…he went there being a real maverick fighter…I watched it live for years in the Senate, and yet he leaves as just another one in the ‘good ol’ boy’ club. He, of all people should be on the floor of the Senate if he stood for what he did when he first took on the RINO side of the aisle…now, he’s in the midst of them. – Sad. Disappointing.

          • Time for the Tea Party to start twisting the knife in these Rino bastards.
Obama could have been on the ropes if the other Repos acted like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz.

      • Enjoy band music from your favorite schools ? Click on FightMusic.com. They have the SEC, ACC schools, just about everything – sounds like you’re there in the gym or stadium. Check it out and give us a full report. Ole Miss still has Dixie on the site (several versions) but don’t tell anyone except your closest 200 friends. That one is a bit hard to find these days. Now and then I run across someone who has never heard of Dave Brubeck. Clearly, many people need to upgrade their musical tastes.

      • Little Lindsey is all over the medialeft shows, saying conservative-sounding things. He’s pulling a McPain, the broken-field runner. Fake right, lurch left after the vote. You can tell an election is looming and LL doesn’t want to face a primary challenge (perhaps from the gov?), which he deserves. She could take him out. I’d like to see him out of there. How about Rand Paul/Ted Cruz 2016 ?

        • LG needs to GO and the people can form a PAC to target just him and accept donations from around the country. I have to believe there are 30-40 million people around the country that are sick of this slimy bastard, political kin to John Edwards. $1 from each of them to a worthy opponent would probably do the trick. It does’t take tons of money from a few, it takes a small pittance from many and we can slam Dunk this reptile.

hey, just make sure you guys are consistent: support what Paul says, support what he defends, and support what he stands for, at least until the 2016 primaries start up, then just vote for the big government, big banks, socialist RINO!

ahh, the continued cycle of the GOP supporter. you could set your watch/calendar to it.

    • You used to be marginally entertaining, now, not so much. If the GOP puts up another RINO in 2016, I will not vote. That soap box you stand on must be enormous.

nope, it’s pretty much a normal sized soap box, it’s just coated in 100+ years of history that show’s past patterns of the American voter.

  16. Cinnamon Girl says:

What we really need to do is change the system that keeps only two extremely wealthy and powerful parties in charge.

Americans, and it’s nearly most of us, who are tired of the same old lies and rhetoric actually need to support other parties and DEMAND that their candidates are placed upon ballots, even if it means changing the law. If America is to survive it must reduce its Federal size and place real leaders, patriots, lovers of freedom, in power, and those same leaders must represent our true desires and the Constitution. Anything else will simply lead us back to where we are now.

That said, I’d be behind the Republican party if they would simply reform. Sadly, I feel that they feel they cannot fully do so and be able to compete with the Democrats. And I understand why. However, if what this filibuster and other things that have occurred represent, would simply be nurtured then the party could use its standing, its money, its lobbyists, its connections, for good instead of evil.

The number one thing that I believe would help Reps become the party to back again would be to stop telling others how to live their lives. I know, I know. Dems do that constantly but Reps do as well and they must cease.

There is so much more to write about but I’ll end it here.

What can expect when these two get bent over behind closed doors. Wonder if “O” did it to both at once.

republiCAN’T are just as dirty, rotten, worthless pieces of $hit as the DEMocRATS……

neither believe in the individual nor the Constitution……

both parties will trample on either one to get some pork or pet project funded…..

As far as Rand Paul……didn’t he just vote to confirm Hagel???

0bama keeps promising things to the republiCAN’TS…..to get them to compromise and do what he wants…..then he just “shines” them on…..

You know what they say about people that keep doing the same thing and expecting different results……..RIGHT?

I have been searching your site for a video you posted a few months back…sometime in the last quarter of 2012, I think, and I’m having no luck. It was one of those man on the street type things, where he was telling people about Obama policies, but saying they were Romney’s policies. Do you know which one I’m talking about? I’m in the middle of a debate with a Libtard on Facebook and would like to show him that video. I’d greatly appreciate it if you would provide the link.
