Yesterday, Oath Keepers announced a change in emphasis of their mission. Up until this point, Oath Keepers was primarily about reaching out to active-duty law enforcement and military to get them to reaffirm their oaths to the Constitution, with a secondary objective of preparing local communities for any sort of disaster—natural or man-made. These priorities have now been swapped, and a revamped effort to prepare citizens and their communities for disastrous eventualities is now job #1 of Oath Keepers.
The rationale behind the change in focus is due to the conclusion reached by the OK board: The American people are in an extremely prone position right now, and the goal of destroying the Constitution and eliminating what few freedoms remain for American citizens is all too readily achievable by any group(s) with the desire to do so. Therefore, we should prepare for this eventuality ASAP.
The scenario drawn up by the OK board is not dissimilar from what has been discussed here on this blog in the past (see, e.g., here):
- Allow the economy to collapse, most likely as a result of the dollar losing its reserve currency status;
- Let the country descend into chaos;
- Ride “to the rescue” by imposing martial law, and promising to restore order by eliminating the former system of government (Constitutional Republic) with an autocratic, socialistic technocracy.
The new OK formulation is to form small teams (12 – 14 people) out of local Oath Keeper chapters to get up to speed (in a hurry) on combat, survival, first aid, engineering, communications, etc.—and then cross-train citizens on these skills. If and when SHTF, the citizens properly trained can then rely upon each other, instead of needing to run into the tentacles of Fedzilla for survival.
At least that’s the plan in its current form. The OK leadership is actively soliciting feedback.
Frankly, I’m skeptical I’ll be able to get much traction on this in NYC. But I’m sure around the rest of the country they’ll find citizens increasingly eager to learn some basics of self-sufficiency as it becomes more and more glaringly obvious that our government is not on our side.
If you’re not a member of Oath Keepers but might have something to contribute, now’s a great time to get involved.
