While many of you are well aware of what’s been taking place since the partial shutdown has ensued and all it entails, we now have various reports regarding whats happened to many of our WWII veterans when they wanted to visit their memorial to them on the mall. And what’s taken place in the last two days regarding this issue has to make all of us swell nothing with but pure pride!
Folks, you can also throw in a handful of some wonderful conservative congress-critters too. Texas congressman Louie Gohmert being one of them, he’s at the top of the list in my book…he’s done so much to help the Vets break the barriers since yesterday morning. He had a great interview on Fox this morning, make sure and check out everything he had to say, the words below don’t do justice to all he had to say during this segment, it’s well worth your time to do so and it doesn’t take that long to watch at all.
Here’s the segment from this morning. – This is via WFB:
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) appeared on Fox News to defend the WWII veterans that crossed barricades to attend their memorial Wednesday morning.
Hemmer declared “They beat the Nazis, they beat the Japanese. Do you think a government shutdown will stop a group of World War II Veterans? Not a chance.” Gohmert wholeheartedly agreed. Gohmert also expressed his disbelief that the Park Services would prevent the Veterans, who had journeyed thousands of miles to get there, from visiting the Memorial: “Bill, it is a granite sidewalk. They spent extra money to go find barriers to put up in front of these WWII Vets.”
Gohmert told Hemmer the story of the valiant Veterans who showed up and proudly stood by the Memorial, some recounting vivid details of the war.
He clarified that the Memorial is an open memorial and Parks Services had placed Park Service Officers around the perimeter to ensure that no damage was done. He reiterated his frustration and sadness with Park Services saying, “I’m wondering what they will do next? Hang a drapery over Mt. Rushmore? This is ridiculous.” The group planned to visit the Memorial again on Wednesday morning.
Keep in mind friends, after this interview this morning, he went directly the Memorial to make sure the Vets would be able to enter the Memorial again today. Well, lo and behold…they were. Methinks the National Park Service police may have been listening to every word Gohmert had to say to Scott during the interview. Gohmert went into a brief detail about the laws congress has regarding this issue. And last I heard via radio or the boob-tube the NPS said the Vets had their First Amendment rights to be there…but not the public.
Folks, I don’t know about you..but methinks the O-Team knew the visuals presented everywhere wasn’t reflecting very well on them, but that’s just how I see it. You might look at it differently.
Watch below, it’s priceless…plus, you should get a kick out of some of what he said:
