Yesterday was Memorial Day—a day set aside to honor our fallen soldiers who died in the defense of what was once the land of the free and the home of the brave. Microsoft’s “Bing” page looked like this:

Bing Memorial Day Home Page

Bing

Google’s page looked like this:

Google Memorial Day Home Page

Google

Today, however, Google’s page looks like this:

Google Doodle DDT

Saint of Gaia

What is that a picture of? Why, it’s Rachel Carson—author of the famed “Silent Spring” book which is credited with kicking off the environmental movement.

Now, of course, environmentalism is nothing more than one more front for the Communist/global government agenda (“watermelons”, as the envirocons are sometimes called—green on the outside, red on the inside). But certainly Ms. Carson can’t be blamed for this subversion of her cause, correct?

Yet a little digging reveals that Ms. Carson seemed far less interested in the scientific integrity of her claims than in the effectiveness of her propaganda. (She was a feminist, after all. Her feelings about “chemicals” trumped any and all contradictory evidence.) Overstating the case against such wonders as DDT made her a hero to the left—but a fraud to anyone with a shred of intellectual integrity.

Ms. Carson’s disingenuous book has literally caused the deaths of millions of people around the world, as it directly resulted in the banning of DDT, which directly resulted in the uncontrolled spread of malaria and other such deadly diseases.

And thus she gets her own “Google Doodle” homage. Our soldiers who paid the ultimate price in the defense of individual liberty? They get squat. (Can’t wait until Steven J. Gould‘s birthday.)

Anyone still patronizing Google should be ashamed of themselves.

I look upon their works with a jaundiced eye,
I despair, but only at the number of idiots there are.

I quit using Google about 6 or 7 years ago…….On the Fourth of July of that year, instead of anything remotely patriotic, Google decide to celebrate Rube Goldberg’s birthday instead.

As Jed Clampett used to say…”Pitiful, just pitiful.”

  4. Ms Carlson performed an uncontrolled experiment, and discarded the half she didn’t like.
Rather than having anyone actually *verify* her research, the US banned DDT instead.
And now we wonder why ‘hockey sticks’, of artfully contrived data yields ‘settled science’ on Global Climate Cooling/Warming/Change/Extreme (whatever this week’s buzzword for it is). Great scientists like Al Gore are not to be trifled with.

I noticed the Google homage early this AM. Fortunately, on an empty stomach.

    • This is the problem we have with amateur access to the media.
In the old days Print was taken more seriously because not everyone had a press.
Now any idiot can have a reasonable looking website and expound on all matters.
She only affects the idiots who take her seriously.
In the rest she creates anger at the waste of good electrons.

Same kind of thinking that banned phosphates from laundry detergent back when… (60’s?) and now from dishwasher detergent a couple of years ago. Then they decided that nitrates were bad, too, so now in Florida you can’t have a leach field for a septic tank. The thing is turned into just a holding tank, basically, and has to be pumped out often.

Same phosphates and nitrates may still be found in 80 pound sacks, though, as “fertilizer” at the local Home Depot store.

I guess a truckload of 10-10-10 doesn’t hold a candle to a couple of loads of laundry?!?

I don’t really see a problem with the banning of DDT.I see the ban as a useful tool for eliminating millions of future border jumpers.Hoardes of third worlders will never see the good old USA thanks to malaria.

In 1900, the world was half white. Now, thanks to the white man’s innovations, such as clean water for them and birth control pills for us, … the demographics have shifted a bit.

  12. Twelve years ago, when I read all about the DDT deception , the estimate was at 30 million dead due to the ban. I would imagine that 12 years later the number is considerably higher.
