IS DIVERSITY A BIG SCAM? YES IT IS!
It is an accepted norm now in American society that diversity is beneficial to us all. Nobody ever tells us why. Most diversity programs seem to merely consist of the dumbing down of standards to promote minorities who do not otherwise qualify. How can this benefit us? Angry White Dude has become to believe diversity is a bunch of politically correct pile of crap. Case in point, America seemed to do pretty well for all those hundreds of years with European-blooded white people who melted into Americans. Americans have furthered technology, medicine, space travel, arts, computers, etc. with little diversity from other countries. So again, I ask why is diversity such a universally accepted great concept? Well, it’s not. You don’t hear the Japanese, Koreans, Indians or Chinese worrying themselves about diversity. Only America and Europe torture themselves over achieving some theoretical goal of people from different cultures occupying certain positions in society’s totem pole that will bring a better good to us all.
Conservative writer Walter Williams recently wrote about the dumbing down of the US Navy through diversity goals. A Navy presentation declared “Diversity is more than equal opportunity, race, gender or religion. Diversity is the understanding of how each of us brings different skills, talents and experiences to the fight — and valuing those differences. Leveraging diversity creates an environment of excellence and continuous improvement to remove artificial achievement barriers and value the contribution of all participants.” Admiral Gary Roughead, chief of Naval Operations, says that “diversity is the No. 1 priority” at the academy. Well, isn’t that comforting! I thought they were looking for officers who could lead men in combat and not get trillion dollar boats sunk! I never realized the Navy was so concerned with the color of their skin of their officers. Mr. Williams reports
“A black candidate with B and C grades, with no particular leadership qualities, and 500 on both portions of the SAT, is virtually guaranteed admittance. A white student, who’s not an athlete, with such scores is deemed not qualified. Many black students are admitted to the Naval Academy through remedial training at the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) in Newport, R.I., which is a one-year post-secondary school. Finishing the year with a 2.0 GPA, a C average, almost guarantees admission to the academy. A C average for remedial work is nothing to write home about. Occasionally, when students don’t make the 2.0 GPA target, the target is renegotiated downward. Minority applicants with SAT scores down to the 300s and with Cs and Ds grades (and no particular leadership or athletics) are also admitted after a remedial year at the Naval Academy Preparatory School.”
How humiliating to be a black Naval Academy student who has actually earned his or her way into the academy? They will be automatically considered to be Affirmative Action attendees by other students. Of course, white students who have earned their way into the Academy by achieving stricter standards than minorities may feel harshly towards these dumbed down students..but they better not voice any opinions lest they be labeled a racist. Being called a racist in America rates just below being labeled a child-molesting spy for the Chinese.
Diversity is the by-product of political correctness. It overlooks the obvious low qualifications of candidates in exchange for feeling good about raising someone to a level of incompetence. But it always fails. It is also grossly unfair and racist to those who qualify under stricter standards. Does it make sense to put a under qualified student into a 4 year college only to see them perform miserably and drop out because they were not prepared when that spot could have gone to a qualified student? How is that different from promoting someone to a job they are unqualified to perform? It’s not and only proves the error of political correctness. I can hope all I want that I can play in the NBA. I can buy Michael Jordan shoes, Nike shorts and even go to basketball clinics. But the truth is I will never be able to play at that level because I don’t have the skill. Hope alone is not going to get it done. And I don’t see any NBA team owners falling all over themselves to give me a diversity spot on the team!
Diversity is another scam thrust upon us by liberals to lower the standards of performance. Who do you want driving that nuclear powered naval carrier? The guy who got into the Naval Academy because of the color of his skin and skimmed by on C’s or the officer who was at the top of his class? How about the doctor about to operate on you? The affirmative action doctor who could not qualify on his aptitude or one who qualified through a stringent selection process?
I say America was made into a great country by performers and achievers. Playing “let’s pretend” to make liberals feel good is a recipe for disaster. So, I’ll ask again, why is diversity so great? I’m still waiting..
Here’s Walter Williams article on diversity:

Plumber, thanks for your well thought out opinions. I always find it much more interesting when people can share ideas and not merely call each other names.
As for your idea of the rich paying more than their share to care for the less fortunate….I saw today that the wealthiest 1% pays 48% of federal income taxes. I also agree with helping unfortunate people like the elderly (not the lazy) but when is enough enough? By the way, I’m not one of the 1%.

Joe, one last thing..
the SNL quote from tina fay was “i can see russia from my house”. her actual quote was “on a clear day, you can see russia from alaska”, which is true.
i agree she may have not been ready, but not the way most people think. Sarah seems like the kind of person who hates the media, who wants to be left alone to do her job. she’s not very good at dealing with the press and relied a TON on her “helpers” to fill in the blanks for her. you really have to tippy-toe around the media or they will rip you apart. how many of us could work if a camera was in our face 24/7? i think she would do great as president, but wouldnt be able to cope w/ the media, but, i’ll admit, that’s part of being the president.
it is pretty clear now that obama lied his ass off during his campain, at least during the really important debates and speeches. but, there was a lot more he said at little events that wasnt brought to our attention thru the media, most of which took place in chicago.
as for the libertarian part…. a lot of studies are showing that people are not what they think they are. most people put themselves into 1 of the 2 major political parties when most are actually in the midddle. they are either libertarians or centrists, most of us are! and if “most of us” would vote, we’d have a ron paul steering this boat back away from the iceberg.
the one think you gotta remember, the media and politicians play off of us fighting all the time. pick a side and start fighting!
the biggest fear of the politicians and the media are people like us, Joe. people who will actually sit down and discuss what the real cause of our problems is.
so once again, welcome to AWD
We’ll have to agree to disagree on Sarah Palin. I hear she’s considering signing up for a radio talk show now. Can’t imagine how that’ll go. Those who support her really love her. I’m not a hater but just can’t take her seriously. I actually thought the cameras and her looks in particular were the best part of her campaign. Can you imagine she’d have nearly as many fans if she looked like Helen Thomas?? Yes, SNL had loads of fun with her and the “I can see Russia from my house” was paraphrased. The Katie Curic interview, though, was literally word for word up until Tina Fay said “Katie, I’d like to use one of my lifelines…” And it’s not just that she was inexperienced at the time, either. Since then, she’s quit as governor, blown off the Ronald Regan gig, and continues to say ridiculous things I have no way to decipher. She sounds like a good woman, a good mother, and a good person — I just don’t want her running the country.
Yes, Obama has backed off from his campaign promises and his poles are showing it. I was hopefull (but not so far as to be deluded) that he could at least make a dent in changing some of the ways of Washington. Silly me! I don’t think McCain could have done any better, though. I think things are so corrupt that possibly no one can make much of a change. I disagree with you in that I’m not convinced his promises were all outright lies — I’d still like to believe they were good intentions. Of course, the road to hell is paved with them…
If you’d like to continue the discussion, I’m willing to go along. I’d like to apologize to AWD for my first post. A friend of mine asked me to look at the site and talked about the idiots here, so I had a preconceived notion about what I’d find. I only glanced over a few remarks before posting, and yes there were plenty of “unhappy” people spouting off. You and AWD have been fair and friendly without knowing what to expect from me, though, and I’d be glad to discuss other topics. I won’t promise to always agree, but I won’t be rude again.
To AWD about taxing the rich — I’m also not among the top 1%. I think they wanted to take the tax rate back to where it was before Bush gave them tax breaks. I also think they’re considering limiting their tax deductions to match those of the middle class. I’m not against anyone getting ahead, just don’t think it’s right when they’re able to get special breaks and loop holes and make their money on the backs of the working man. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’ve paid enough taxes in my life to have my own representative in congress.
So, have you listened to the healthcare debates? Your thoughts? AWD may have to open a new thread for this one.
we’ve gone to page 2! we’re doooomed!
Diversity is a way for liberals to feel guilt free regarding race, old news. Affirmative action is a poor attempt to right some wrongs in American society, because it only addresses discrimination through the lens of individual achievement. IF this hasn’t been said before here, American society has always had an extensive array of affirmative action policies for white guys, angry or not. Housing and employment discrimination, poll taxes, widespread violence and intimidation to would be black voters in the south (making your two black panther thugs look just silly by comparison, racial covenants, etc. Current affirmative action does very little to reverse these problems but it does create a lot of anger among whiteys like yourself, and its not unwarranted. But its dishonest to present a critique of affirmative action without looking into America’s past. Race is just a wedge promoted by bosses to better control the real division in America, that is class.
[...] part of me wonders if there is actually a category for where this guy lands politically. The angry white dude is not afraid to offend people on multiple levels and say what he thinks, no matter the [...]
“There’s class warfare, all right, Mr. (Warren) Buffett said, but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning.”
The “diversity is our strength” scam is one of many tactics used in the ongoing class war.
Divide and conquer.
One method for an ever-growing amount of wealth and power to ascend the socio-economic pyramid.
I predict the USA federal government will eventually become a true oligarchy with the majority of USA citizens mere serfs wallowing in an economic mire more akin to the culture of the MILLIONS of non-assimilating invaders from below the USA southern border.
The signs are obvious for those willing to look.
In most instances it’s certain elements who are raised via the streets and ex-offenders. A lot females who turn Muslim are usually influenced by their significant other. Me personally, I’ve never understood the attraction towards Islam. In the inner city, I’ve often viewed it as a fad in which one could equate to skinny jeans.
