30TH ANNIVERSARY OF IRAN HOSTAGES – WE HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN!

HELL NO! I'LL NEVER FORGET!
Today is the 30th anniversary of the Iranian Muslim extremists overtaking the US Embassy in Tehran and taking American hostages that were held for 444 days. This occurred during the obscenely disgusting Carter administration and, in AWD’s opinion, was the greatest failure in US policy concerning Islamic terrorism. Why the greatest? Because of Carter’s non-response to the storming of our embassy…an act of war…other Muslim terrorists learned the United States was a paper tiger without the political will to destroy our enemies. We and the world have paid the price since! We have seen terrorists murder Americans in Aden, Tanzania, Lebanon, Kenya, Khobar Towers, and the World Trade Center in 1993 and the final attack on 9/11. All of our Presidents until George Bush responded anemically when they should have made this point: Harm Americans anywhere in the world and you will be annihilated. Even today we see Obama trying to call 9/11 the Day of Service. To me, it is the Day of Rage against Islamic terrorism!
30 years later and Iran is still a huge problem and major sponsor of Islamic terrorism worldwide. They have killed US soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. They also are developing nuclear weapons…if they don’t have them already. All of this is unnecessary and could have been avoided if Carter had the cojones to do the real thing and destroyed the Islamic terrorist mullahs 30 years ago! Every successive president has kicked the Iranian can down the road. Now we sit on the sidelines telling Israel they better not attack a country who has stated their goal is to wipe Israel off the map! Our current President is so pathetic I doubt he would do anything if Iran actually succeeded in wiping Israel off the map!
This is not hard. Savage Muslims respect only one thing….power. We have the power but not the guts to unleash our military to do what it does better than any other military in the world….kill people and blow things up. Instead, we see in Afghanistan rules of engagement that prohibit us from firing on the Taliban if they shoot from areas with civilians present. Guess the locations where the Taliban now shoot at us? Areas with civilians! And our military men are getting killed! Look, war is not pretty or easy but our soldiers did not choose the locations from which the Taliban fire. The Taliban did and they alone bear the responsibility! If we are not fighting the war..any war..to win and limit the number of American casualties, we should simply pull out! Somehow our Presidents have never learned that simple lesson. If you’re going to be a bear, be a grizzly!
I detest Iran and the Islamic thugs that run that country. I will never forget the humiliation they caused us 30 years ago. I was in high school but my anger still burns and I look to the day we can settle the score with those murderous mullahs in Tehran. Carter’s administration is an embarrassment to America. Obama’s is worse!

Fact check, the stated goal of Iran is not to wipe israel off the map:

The speech was intentionally mistranslated by MEMRI (israeli propaganda).
Someone would benefit from a war with Iran, but it’s not you and me.
Mark Bowden has written a great book named “Guests of the Ayatollah” documenting the Iran Hostage debacle. It’s a great, lengthy read!
KHM, do you have additional resources other than wikipedia to back up that claim? And don’t attach a link to Snopes either
I remember it also, AWD.
I also remember our “media” cheering as the Ayatolla Assahola made his return to Iran..
I was thinking then that something seemed wrong with the whole thing. Why were they praising him so??? He just looked evil to me.
And Jimmah did nothing.
IMO, had we dealt with Iran 30 years ago, we’d be a lot better off

Let the record show that I am not pro Iran. I just don’t like the idea of being taxed to pay for unnecessary war. Or my friends dying in said wars (several friends graduated from west point, I was accepted there but went elsewhere).
I also don’t like being lied to on the news like I saw today CNN tried to turn the scozzafava story around and say she stepped out of the race because of “national republicans” rather than because she is a scumbag liberal.
Iran is pure evil, I knew that when hostages were taken and i was only a teenager. Back then myself and friends wanted to go over there and kick some butt, But nooo not that whiney liberal carter. We couldn’t understand why our country did nothing about getting our people back and destroying the enemy. If us teenagers thought we were being a bunch of whimps, imagine what the rest of the world thought. I also remember the day Reagan took office we got our people back.
Not to bust your chops,AWD,probably just overlooked it..but you left out Beirut,Lebanon 10/23/83..Reagan and Mitterrand wanted to level half of Iran where Hezbollah was being trained for this type of s**t,but Weinberger said no due to the fact we were part of the MNF under the frickin UN…scumbags…although ‘side’ business was conducted quite appropriately
Paradox, you’re right. I’ll make the addition. Thanks!
AWD
You’re welcome,AWD!
And Thanks!
We need another ‘Reagan’ in office. We need to show our strength to the world and not pussy-foot around with terrorists. I pray for our country daily – and I pray for the Tea Party Movement to continue to be successful. Tea Party activities will be our salvation in 2010. Thank you to all who work so hard to keep the movement growing.
AWD, it’s rumored that Pelosi has enough votes to get the healthcare bill passed unless some citizens march on to Washington Thursday to protest it.

I think if the Republicans run the table in the three elections tomorrow all the Blue Dog DemonRats will run away from Pelosi.

shiites, sunnis and jews; oh my…
how long will this cycle go on? how many dollars spent? how much time?
What is worse, the time we spend on the middle east or the money?
Damn oil.
KHM, good link. Always like to read/hear something with references to Paul as I agree with his type of foreign policy and fiscal responsibility. Also, I’m opposed to unnecessary wars costing us in lives, money and reputation. I feel your pain, as I have family stationed in Mosul.
Unnecessary war????
The west has been at war since Islam declared it against us (any and all unbelievers) back in the 7th century. This war will not end until the $hit stain of Islam is completely and permently cleansed from the face of the earth. Piss be upon all muslims.

You forgot about Reagan. He made a believer out of Quadaffi when he bombed Libya and Quadaffi barely escaped with his life.
“Our current President is so pathetic I doubt he would do anything if Iran actually succeeded in wiping Israel off the map!”
AWD:
Without a shadow of a doubt, and regardless of the fact that the POTUS is a muslim, Israel would go COMPLETELY NUCLEAR if Iran actually succeeded in their often repeated threat of wiping “Satan” (America) off the map.
I can assure you that there would be no muslims left alive within a 2000 mile radius of Israel once all the festivities were over.
Israel is, and has been, the only loyal ally of the U.S. in the Middle East for the last 60 years.
You can take that to the bank.
Yeah, $5 billion per year in foreign aid will buy you some loyal friends. There are only 7 million people in israel so that’s nearly $1000 per person per year.
Did we have any enemies in the middle east before israel existed?
Rather than giving tax dollars to israel we should sell weapons to both sides of the conflict and see who wants it more.
How about the Grand Mufti (piss be upon him), Hitler’s good buddy?
KHMfckr:
The $5 billion is NOT cash, asswipe. The $ 5 Billion consists of 20% Off Coupons on U.S. made armaments. In other words, Israel gets a $ 5 billion discount on $ 25 billion in armaments purchases. This is a U.S. government SUBSIDY to U.S. manufacturers, even though Chinese armaments are of the same quality, and a LOT LESS money. Israel keeps jobs in the U.S. Ask anyone who works for Lockheed and Boeing.
Get your facts straight before you try biting and scratching Israel.
PS. Try your anti-Israel rants again, and I’ll nail you every time. You’ve been warned.
The 5 billion is 5 damn billion regardless. It’s too damn much money for Israel. I could not give a damn if Israel get’s wiped off the face of the earth so why should my tax dollars prop up those pricks.
Iran doesn’t threaten me at all. If you are counting on military action against Iran you will be sorely disappointed.
Mike and others, you both raise a very valid point regarding the necessity of Israel. After all, how exactly does their friendship benefit us? Of all of the allies in the Middle East, we had to pick the nation with no oil reserves or other natural resources. Rather than constantly investing money and resources into nations abroad, we need to start redeveloping our own infrastructure.
I’d rather Israel got our help than almost any other nation.I know that they have the Intel and the guts to kick the shit out of those fkn muslim peace haters…
YAWM and others, we give $5 billion/yr in military credits with which they buy US made arms. We don’t send them cash. In return, we receive the info from the best intelligence agency in the world and also support a democracy in the middle east.
