DUDE OF THE WEEK – WEST POINT CADET READING “KILL BIN LADEN”
THAT'S THE SPIRIT SOLDIER!
With the madness of political correctness poisoning our country at every level, it was quite refreshing to see at least West Point Cadet Konrad Bunde still wants to kill Osama Bin Laden! He joins the loyal dudes and dudettes who read Angry White Dude in that desire! Unfortunately, our current political and military leaders are a feckless clutch of PC buffoons. After the terrorist attack on soldiers at Ft. Hood by an insane Muslim, top General William Casey commented, “it would be a shame if this damaged our diversity program.” George Patton could be heard spinning in his grave! General Casey, we don’t want you to stop recruiting Muslims who hate us and give them access to our military. You might be called a racist! This week, we heard Hussein Hopenchange give a lukewarm endorsement to send additional forces to Afghanistan…but only for a short period before ending a war he said he was “uncomfortable with the word ‘winning’.” Also this week, top General in Afghanistan Stanley McChrystal said we were in Afghanistan,
“not to conquer, not for glory, not for money…but rather to help the Afghan people shape their future.”
Isn’t that sweet? See the pattern here? I’m so glad our men are giving their precious lives so people living in shacks and caves who despise us can shape their future. Silly me, I thought we were over there to kill and blow up the Taliban! Oh, that’s right, it’s not politically correct to kill our enemies anymore…we must “bring them to justice” (in NYC) or help them shape their futures. The only difference with the people of Afghanistan today and 1000 years ago is AK-47′s. AWD never served in the military but I might suggest we try reshaping the future of the Taliban terrorists with Hellfire missiles! Call that AWD diplomacy or “if you’re going to be a bear, be a grizzly” diplomacy. Oh yeah, add to that no punishment, but medals, for Navy Seals busting the lips of captured terrorists! How low we have fallen!
Sorry, got off on rant there. My thanks and admiration for the young cadet who still has fight in him. AWD once heard this joke:

Listening to the Diversity Program General William Casey, that joke doesn’t seem too off base. I hope this young man reading the book can keep his spirit to kill the enemy and not get caught up in the political correctness that has infected the higher ranks of the Army. As to your anger…we all are, you just express it so well with humor, sage words of wisdom, and most of all class.
I’m not just saying this, I look forward to reading your words…you really do speak for millions of us…we just need to spread the word more…which I’m going to try to learn to do more as the months go by…everything takes time…but lord knows, it’s more than worth it…it’s much needed now more than ever in this country.

I am going to do my best to spread the word about this site…we need more to come, I hope others do what they can as well, I’m trying to learn to use Twitter/tweetdeck better, little by little when I have the extra time, plus the other various sites I go to as well, I’ve been in the process of moving for the past few months, so catching up has been fun but frustrating at times…I assume we all have other places we go, I myself have to start remembering to mention AWD as much as possible with a link to the site or particular blog post.

Sent the following to Roger Goodell–in keeping with, I believe, the attitudes of many here.
Sir,
I would like to request, respectfully, that the league adopt a policy about player behavior during the national anthem. I have been a season ticket holder for most years since 1977 and in three different cities. (New York, Tampa and Atlanta.) I am an old man and a Korean veteran. I have noticed at the ball games, whether in person or on TV, that the behavior of the athletes during the anthem leaves a lot to be desired. I do not wish to be unfair to some of them who actually sing along with the anthem, (God bless them), nor do I wish it to be a major issue that causes a rift in these days of troubled circumstances.
My suggestion is that any athlete who does not wish to honor our flag and the anthem by standing at attention with hand over heart should enter the tunnel or otherwise remain out of sight until the anthem is over so that a bad example for our youth is not set by someone who through the graciousness of the freedoms of the United States, makes a decent living and enjoys freedom. That person is, also, a role model for many of our youth.
Further, while watching other cities games, I heard the announcer tell the crowd to please stand, remove your hats and place hands over hearts for the national anthem. It would be nice if every stadium made an announcement like that since some of our youth do not know the ways o show their respect.
Yours is a position of high responsibility and your actions can influence the young men in the league and in the stands in a very positive manner.
I have no power to force this issue. It is just that at seventy six years of age, I do not know how many more years I will be able to attend the sport of my choice since I was ten years old. I should like to attend knowing that our country means as much to our athletes as it does to those of us who served.
I thank you in advance for any of your efforts in this situation.

I definitely agree with you on Dude of the Week. That guy may actually be a decent officer (and you have no idea how hard it is for me to say that about the Army). I also agree with you on the ridiculous levels of political correctness in the military, government, and society. I agree that Obama is a totally useless bastard.
However, as you said you were not in the military so I’m guessing you haven’t been to Afghanistan. I have been there. I can tell you, as I’ve said before, the vast majority of them don’t hate us. In fact, the vast majority of them really actually like us quite a bit.Now don’t get me wrong, at no point in there did I say the military should be doing anything other than killing. That’s our job. However, we should, as a country, help them rebuild so that the exact same thing doesn’t happen all over again. Some of you guys seem to think that if we beat the Taliban and Al-Qaeda we’ll have beaten terrorism. That is simply not true. There are plenty of other groups out there who will pick up the slack when they are gone. What we have to do is a combined military and civilian effort to destroy the Taliban and Al-Qaeda and help them rebuild so the crazies don’t roll back in as soon as we leave. Wash, rinse, repeat with any other country that decides it’s a good idea to harbor anyone who thinks they might want to try to attack the US.

I’m late to the game and completely off-topic, but having just found out where AWD.com stalwart BigTimer is from, I thought I’d share this anecdote:
When out in Montana for elk [bow] season, I received a call from a friend, a life-long New Yorker, who asked where I was. When I said, “Montana–y’know, big sky country,” she said, “Yeah, I’ve heard of that–but I don’t get it. Isn’t the sky the same size no matter what state you’re in?”
She was an Ivy League graduate. And not the first of whom I’ve heard make such an utterly stupid comment.
But for the record [topic], this cadet is bad a$$–even more so than your average bad-a$$ cadet.
Again, infinite gratitude to the men and women who put their lives at risk for us common folk.
