This story should surprise no one. A college classmate of Hussein Hopenchange says Obama was a hard-core Marxist in college. Obama’s first year in the White House lends credence to John Drew’s claims. Obama has sought to broaden control over Americans and make us more dependent on the federal government. From nationalization of General Motors, control over banks and large insurance companies, a hell-bent desire to force government run health care on us as well as control our energy use by Cap and Trade proves Obama is indeed a communist. Only brainless liberals and the MSM at this point refuse to admit it.

I am not even slightly surprised by this revelation that Obama was a Marxist in college. I mean, what young black college student back then wasn’t a Marxist?
Still, I’m going to cut Obama some slack for his radical views in college. People in college are young, naive, and constantly experimenting with their views. I wouldn’t like it if someone 20 years from now condemned me for my political beliefs in college.
Jared Taylor was a liberal when he was in college, but now he’s completely different. I’m not trying to compare the two individuals, but I’m just trying to point out that peoples’ views change over time.

Since you are accusing him of being a Socialist/Communist, the burden of proof is on you to show that Obama has enacted Socialism/Communism. So far, he hasn’t done that. The fact that many actual Socialists and Communists (such as those who write for counterpunch.org) believe that Obama is a conservative in liberal’s clothing indicates that he isn’t actually a Socialist.

Rock, all I know is that on an ECONOMIC level, times for this nation were better under Clinton than they were the Republicans.
As for the social/cultural problems caused by Democrats, I agree with you. It’s partially because of them that we have to deal with this whole multiculturalism/immigration/diversity crap.
Still, The Republicans did nothing to convince me to vote for them. They did a pretty lousy job for 8 years.

I agree that the Democrats are no better than the Republicans. However, as someone who politically came of age during Bush, I simply couldn’t support a Republican. Republicans have only themselves to blame for their current predicament.

YAWM, I understand about coming of age in the political sense. I was a high school student during the Nixon years, and Vietnam. I hated Nixon, and all his cronies. Growing up, all that millions of people my age knew, was that our country was at war in some country on the other side of the world. It made no sense. I don’t think this site is about Republicans and Democrats per se, I think it’s about values, and right and wrong, and the steady loss of freedoms we are all facing today. The problem is government, period.

Mike, I try to cultivate an open mind. I don’t see myself as “liberal” or “conservative.” I am simply a young and angry white male who feels lost and disillusioned in this chaotic world.
I see the United States and the rest of the Western world becoming more and more like Mexico and Brazil with each passing day.
I see good jobs, blue collar and white collar, disappearing due to corporate greed.
I see other nations surpassing us on all fronts, while we do nothing.
To me, neither “liberals” nor “conservatives” have good answers, because I have not seen any great results from either of them lately. We continue to be flooded by 3rd world hordes, our schools continue to decay, our jobs disappear, and our system just grows more corrupt.
I’m simply trying to find my way using my own insights and answers. Liberals and conservatives have both failed in my view.
YAWM, look at reasons why jobs have moved overseas. Unions, back-breaking government regulation and taxes. Corporations are not in business to give jobs. They are in business to make a profit for the owner or shareholders. If you look at every business-choking law or regulation, you will see liberal or RINO fingerprints on it. Conservatives believe in less government and a free market. That means free of gov’t interference. I agree with what you say except the part about liberals and conservatives. It should read liberals and RINOs. Don’t confuse Republicans for conservatives.

AWD, you make a compelling argument. I confess that I am not an economics expert. However, I think it’s safe to say that corporations outsource their jobs because it is cheaper to rely on sweatshop workers and Indian technical workers than native born Americans.
Whether or not corporations outsourced and abandoned the U.S because of greed or harsh regulations/demanding unions is up to speculation. However, I do believe that a profit based economy and Capitalism has been very successful, in spite of inequalities.
Who knows, maybe we just need a real conservative. I’m sure George W. Bush was a RINO, because he violated many conservative principles.
In general, I don’t care about labels. I just want results, and so far, neither party has produced any.

Like most everyone else, I’m glad that you are active in the political scene, but I will never agree with you on the comparison between R and D.
Clinton lucked up and lost popularity and moved to the right at the urging of the people and came out looking better than he could ever have looked under the D agenda.
We have always and will always have a better economic situation if we follow Conservative fiscal avenues which are most often practiced by R’s.
As far as social issues are concerned, well… there is no comparison. Almost as a rule D’s and liberals have low or no moral guidelines to adhere to and its a “low as you can go” policy that they follow.
YAWM, study up the philosophy of conservatism. The ideals are still good. It’s just that some people that self identify as conservative, have not lived up to the bar. McCain, Bush, yes, I said Bush, and other so called conservatives who have tarnished the ideal of conservatism in the public view. Remember, Conservative and Republican are not synonomous. I feel like you do, sometimes, I just have the advantage of being a little older. The worst thing you can do is, become apathetic, and lose faith. Don’t give up.
