Last February 27th, small groups gathered in 50 American cities to protest the $786 Stimulus Bill. The anger in these patriots had been growing for decades as middle class taxpayers as we watched an ever-growing and ever-spending federal government ignore the wishes of “the people.” The first tea parties message was “enough is enough.” Not too many took notice as the groups were small. Most of the attendees and organizers had never been to a protest in their lives.

One year later, the Tea Party movement has grown into the most exciting political movement in generations. From a rag-tag bunch of angry, middle-class taxpayers, the movement has grown into a political power and has become a worry to both Democrats and Republicans. The Tea Party movement, while far from monolithic, generally follows these principles:

1. Fiscal responsibility
2. Personal responsibility
3. Limited government
4. Rule of law
5. National sovereignty

Social issues, which can often divide, are not part of the Tea Party movement’s focus. There are already many groups that address those issues. The Tea Party movement views the destruction of our economy and fiscal insanity of our government to be the greatest dangers to America.

The Tea Party movement’s detractors have called the movement racist. Of course, this is nothing but cheap bomb-throwing from the hard-core left. The Tea Party invites all to join it’s events. The mainstream media is the most guilty of this name-calling. The liberal media continues to accuse the tea party of racism because more blacks are not in attendance at tea party events. True journalists would ask black people why more are not participating with the tea party. The obvious answer is because 91% of blacks still support Barack Obama! With 9 out of 10 of 5% (blacks of voting age) of the US population still supporting the radical agenda of Barack Obama, should the Tea Party expect to see many blacks?

The Tea Party movement will continue to grow and will have a greater effect on future elections. More and more Americans are fed up with the insanity and arrogance of Washington. It has been a wild ride for organizers of the movement. The tea party is growing, organizing and getting more and more people to the primary voting booths…where they can have a greater voice on who goes to Washington or the State House.

AWD will attend the One Year Anniversary of the Dallas Tea Party today at Dallas City Hall from noon to 2 and celebrate the day with thousands of Texas patriots. What a joyous day when Americans can gather in numbers and tell our government….enough is enough!
