NATIONAL BLACK CONSERVATIVE PRESS CONFERENCE…OH GREAT!
A group of black conservatives has decided to speak out against the NAACP’s recent resolution calling on the tea party movement to condemn its (non-existent) racist elements. While AWD applauds these conservatives speaking out against the racist and irrelevant NAACP, I am troubled they are doing it under the banner of black conservatives. Looking at the lineup of speakers, AWD sees no crackas on the list. I wonder if white conservatives are allowed? Here’s the press release:

In light of the NAACP resolution accusing the millions of Americans who attend Tea Parties of embracing racists, Tea Party Express is hosting a National Black Conservative Press Conference.
Black conservative leaders, organization spokespersons, authors, entertainers and activists from across America will gather in Washington DC to introduce themselves and their individual roles in fighting the good fight promoting conservative principles, values and patriotism.

It says, “The attendees are not racists. They are decent hard working Americans who love their country. Tea Party patriots oppose President Obama’s policies, not his skin color.” So to show they don’t oppose President Obama’s policies because of his skin color they organize a press conference with speakers selected by their skin color? Will this madness ever end? Can’t ALL conservatives oppose Obama without having to have a litmus test based on skin pigment? Are white or Latino conservative’s dissatisfaction with Hussein Hopenchange less valid because they are not black? Is America so poisoned by political correctness that only black people can criticize black people?
I’m afraid this is a very misguided effort by some very good people. Because every last one of these black conservatives would condemn a white conservative organization or press conference that denounced the NAACP. So if these black conservatives are true conservatives, they should simply speak out against the NAACP without the need for a special and exclusionary black conservative press conference. They should criticize the NAACP as conservative Americans. The NAACP deserves criticism for being racist because the NAACP is totally hung up on skin pigment! These conservatives are unwittingly playing the NAACP’s game and, as a conservative, I must praise their message while condemning their manner of presenting it.
Wouldn’t it be so much better if American’s of all colors finally followed King’s admonition of judging people by their character and not their skin? I’m afraid these black conservatives have much to learn.

Let the NAACP focus on keeping Americans apart…that’s their business. Conservatives should work to bring us together! How to get rid of racism? Stop talking about it! Yes, stop talking about it every @#&* minute of each day!

AWD – Wow! I saw those same sentiments written down a few years back. It went like this:
America has Race Fever. It’s not an actual race war, but a sort of racial Cold War. A grinding war of nerves. And it’s impossible to escape. A race war would be anticlimactic at this point. Enough. Let’s put the baby to bed. And let’s cool down just a tad. We don’t need MORE sensitivity. If we got any more sensitive, we’d all break out in a rash.
I remember a teacher in high school saying that if someone told you not to think about a banana tree over the next ten seconds, banana trees would be stuck to your brain. The vast legion of media floodlights and high-power telescopes and ear-splitting megaphones probably make it harder than ever for Americans to imagine a world without racism. When every TV and radio station sounds a flatulent rusty tuba for yet another show on the horrors of prejudice, it almost seems like a cumulative attempt to keep everyone FIXATED on race. The solution would seem simple: If you want to get over racism, QUIT TALKING ABOUT IT. If you wish to transcend black and white, stop phrasing everything in those terms. Bombarding everyone with endless racial images is itself a form of racism. It effects a sort of mental segregation. Silence doesn’t make a problem go away, but loudness isn’t working, either. NO RACISM! NO RACISM! NO RACISM! Anything else on your mind?
While reading this awd, the longer I read it the first place I was going to go was to the link/interview here regarding Morgan Freeman with Wallace…which was great, he had Wallace all tied up in knots…I loved it.
Nevertheless, I hate to say I agree with your sentiment, because it must get old with some here, but I do…I am sick and tired of this separate group by race BS because it’s PC..I love Marcus, and most likely many that will speak, I just wished they wouldn’t do this…the Tea Party Express is playing right into the leftists hands as far as I’m concerned…regardless if anyone liked Williams they guy they threw under the bus because of his sarcasm in a letter to the NAACP regarding their racist BS towards the Tea Party…what they did in that instance was wrong…geesh…he was trying to make a point…just like Breitbart was/ and did as far as I’m concerned….the msm including Fox let the BS take the lead in the end…they all pucker their butts up and play the tune the leftists want…once again.
It makes me sick.

What they fear isn’t the whackos that attend Tea Parties. What they fear is the reasonable demands for equality in opportunity in jobs education and other white ethnic interests getting traction with middle america.
I cannot help but think that the election of Hope and chains was a backhanded approach for the guilt ridden white folk to finally bring an end to the unconstitutional and unethical Affirmative Action. It’s been fifty years people how long are we going to have to handicap our childrens opportunities? You guys even have one of your own as POTUS aren’t we ready to be equal now?
The movement will morph into a white rights organisation if only because the people are losing the fear of the dreaded “R” word.

Considering that every other black organization is completely full of s***, this announcement by the “black conservatives” is not entirely without merit. They can tell Jesse that they’re an independent group, and not just another black caucus of Uncle Toms jumping on for the ride.
At the very least, they’ve protected themselves from being lumped together with all other black groups as bad news and dirty shoes.
So, can black people do anything that wouldn’t bother you?
None, yes, they could stop being black first and just be Americans.

I sympathize with your desire for wanting black conservatives to drop the hyphen from the name of our press conference. But a couple of things for you to consider. One you should make a distinction between racial or racist labeling versus ethnic labeling. I am certainly not offended by St. Patrick’s Day (I usually wear Green on the day), or (Italian-theme dominated) Columbus Day. Nor am I offended by the variety of ethnics in our country that are proud of the heritage of their ancestors. We are all Americans first, last and always. But we should not be afraid of one’s ethnic pride. I know that pride can often devolve into bias and we should be watchful that it doesn’t, but let’s us make a distinction.
Secondly. It is important that ALL Americans see a (mostly) black group condemn the shameful hypocrisy of the NAACP. It is particularly important for white Americans to know that they are not alone! It may seem counter-intuitive, but having a black group denounce the NAACP reinforces the fact that this is not about race at all.
Finally, Jim Martin, of 60 Plus (A Conservative alternative to AARP led by Pat Boone) will be participating with the press conference. He is white.

Niger, thanks for your comments. The only concerns I see are St. Patrick’s Day and Columbus Day celebrations honor the heritage of the Irish and Italians where a Black Conservative group is based on race. Especially when a White Conservative group would be widely viewed as racist.
I do agree American blacks need to see other American blacks criticizing the hypocrisy and racism of the NAACP. But they can do that without calling themselves Black Conservatives. Conservatives against the NAACP would work just fine.

As One of the leaders who spoke at the Press Conference in Washington DC at the National Press Conference.
I am the one with the hat on. The only reason we had this News Conference is because the news has too many times said that there are not any Leaders of Color in the Tea Party Movement. We needed to show that we are hear working with all of the each Party Movement. So don’t worry DUDE. We will be DC on September 8-12 and my husband and I will be speaking there. Hope to see you there. We are moving America towards a Colorblind Society.

This is something on which I have very mixed feelings. It seems we conservatives jump every time the mainstream media leftists accuse us of racism. The NAACP charge of racism against the tea party was just another smokescreen to divert our attention. Answering to the leftist media is a game we conservatives will never win. They cannot give up the race card because it is the only weapon they have. If we laugh at them and quit trying to prove we’re not racists at every turn it would minimize the power of it.
I would love to have a color blind society. But I can’t piece together how a Black Conservatives group will achieve that. Especially when a White Conservative group would be universally viewed as racist. Why can’t we all just be conservatives?
