The Angry White Dude will admit it. I have NEVER been a fan of Colin Powell. I saw him speak at some corporate event about 10 years ago and knew then that this guy was a phony and working the system for all it was worth. He, like Rudy Giuliani, has made millions of dollars retelling the 9/11 story to organizations stupid enough to pay them. AWD knows for a fact that as recent as 4 years ago, Giuliani was making $250,000 for a one-hour speech talking about 9/11. Wonder how much of that money made it’s way back to families who lost members in the attack? Yeah, that’s what I figure too!
Colin Powell has been almost universally worshiped by Republicans for the mere fact that he was a black Republican. Many wanted him for President for that reason alone! When will we stop selecting people because of their race? For those Powell worshipers, Powell removed the veil of doubt that this guy is a fat phony and, like most blacks, can only see through lenses of race when he endorsed Obama. Consider a 4-star general officer endorsing a candidate who wanted to withdraw funding of military operations in Iraq when we were in the middle of a war and has vowed to reduce military spending if elected. Does this make sense? No, Powell has shown himself to be a politician, not a statesman. I have no doubt that he will end up somewhere in the Obama administration before its over.
Yesterday, the pompous Powell said “the Republican party must stop “shouting at the world” and start listening to minority groups if it is to win elections in the 21st century.” He went on to say that the Republicans need to look into and understand what is in the “hearts and minds” of African-American, Hispanic and Asian voters.” Why should a political party see race? Shouldn’t a political party include anyone who shares its principles? Are not all black, Hispanic and Asian voters who share conservative views already welcome? This shows why Powell is such a phony. He played up to Republicans being a black conservative and used that as long as it was in his interest. His heart was never into it. When he had the opportunity to show what he truly was…..another race baiting black politician…he jumped ship as fast as he could. And the ship that he now sails is diametrically opposed to the political values that he supposedly held for 20 plus years. That ship is the USS Socialist.
The Angry White Dude says NUTS to shaping the future of the Republican party around kissing the rear ends of minorities. Many, in my opinion, are too far gone after being brainwashed for generations that they are victims and deserve endless money from the government (tax-payers). The fact that 94% of blacks voted for Obama proves this. OJ Simpson’s first trial further proves this. For the Republican party to return to power it needs to forget trying to buy support from minorities. It needs to embrace strict financial conservative principles and a smaller federal government. It needs to stop acting like Democrats. Many Republicans have tried to be Democrats and they have always lost. Democrats give away other people’s money better then anyone. Do you hear me John McCain?
Colin Powell is just another example that blacks are blacks first and Americans second. He and his ilk are the disease….race blind conservative principles are the cure!

For instance, I do not know much about his total viewpoints nor how he arrived at his political conclusions.
Many, (many) – don’t know the number, but many blacks are social conservatives, and Christian Protestant values. And I don’t think their issue with Republicans is that they crave large government.
Kathy, I think you’re right and wrong. You’re wrong where you think that blacks don’t want big government. Who has benefited from the tremendous social programs created by the left? And who has given their votes dutifully to the left? Blacks. And how have those programs worked? Right!
I do believe that to a certain extent that many blacks are socially conservative. In regards to homosexuality, most blacks are against it. But out of marriage childbirth doesn’t have the negative stigma in the black world as it does the white. Just a few examples.

Many a time, when one *wants* to make a point… they do a one-sided Google and say ‘bingo’. You shoud know better than to look for such, regarding scientific *theory* to prove your bias, etc. That’s just too darn lazy “Truth”. If you want to go that route, then you must explore the other arguments… and they are out there. There are too many holes in your conclusions. And then when you’re done, I’m curious about your intentions and goals in your love of Aryan-esque scientific endeavor.

And for that matter… seems the Native Americans are (or once were) “savages.” How ’bout those Vikings? Are we talking just in this century, or millenia? From comparing surveys/watchdog groups over the issue of media fairness/bias… Even the media watchdog groups have conservative or ‘progressive’ ties.

I don’t know what Terry was smoking in the mosque to have written that Hannity supports Obama! I have heard Hannity’s radio program on occasion (I find it boring) and watched him on Fox. He is a dyed in the wool conservative and there is NO chance he would have voted for Obama.
I started out the election cycle not going to vote for either Obama or McCain. AWD saw them as Obama and Obama lite. I was pretty right about that. I ended up voting against Obama and voting for Palin because I fear that Obama’s inexperience and his view of the world through rose colored glasses will get a lot of us hurt or killed.

YES, based on the preponderance of scientific evidence, and in agreement with decades of research, blacks are without question superior sprinters.
And in spite of the fact that a lot of white folks are very uncomfortable talking openly about actual, measurable differences in races, facts are never racist.

I’m going to weigh in on this. Some readers here believe that behavior is determined by genetics. I believe they have a strong argument. In most countries, blacks do make up a sizable number of criminals. Most every black run nation is poor and underdeveloped. But I believe that environment and education can affect behavior. Yes, there have been white sprinters but the vast majority are black. Blacks do seem to perform better athletically but there are black scientists and surgeons..albeit not very many. I just know that if I adopted a black child out of the ghetto today, that child would not act like a fool, commit crimes, etc….at least while he was living with me. The lessons/training he would receive would hopefully guide him to seek an education and the rewards of this great country. I don’t know if behavior is 100% genetics or environment. I just know that too many black children fall into the bottomless pit of crime and prison. The black race CAN do much better.

The comparison of making objective studies about the body’s physiology… ie, do obese people make better runners, Do blacks have darker skin, more muscles? is very different than “Do blondes have more fun?”
The honest objective scientific study of something such as race/intelligence/violence the brain and hormones is a far more complex study/pursuit, even if pursuing this purely physiologically. But the topic involves much more than physiology, more than culture, too.
While science is and will continue to head into controversial territory, on studies such as this there is also etchic/moral responsibility. You know… morality… invisible to the microscope, subjective/objective quest.

We still don’t have a cure for cancer. My mother had breast cancer, and my sister had a malignancy. My sister pursued genetic testing to see if she carried the ‘cancer’ gene in order to determine if she should have surgery or other therapy. As it turns out, my sister does not have the cancer gene. The odds are that I’m at high risk for also having breast cancer… but if this is not based on genetics… ?
I am stating to you again, the brain and genetics alone in all their glorious mystery and complexity is different than a discussion about muscle mass, let alone breast cancer.
Even with regards to IQ results by racial demographics there are other factors than solely genetics. For example, early child development, and nutrition. Did you know that Feral children – who have been isolated early in life, lose the ability to learn speech. One can ‘learn’ how to achieve better results on IQ tests, by exercize of certain thinking/visualization modules. Asian children, from a very young age go through a uniquely Asian culture-based childhood development.

I have to agree with you and disagree with you. While I do believe that genetics does have a lot to say about “who” we are, I also believe that environment plays just as big a role. I think that IQ, body type, and athletic ability are determined by genetics. I believe that our environment and the way that we are brought up plays a bigger role in the way we look at crime. I was raised to think that breaking the law is not a good thing. Then again I was also raised to work my ass off and not wait for the government or anybody else to give me a hand out. There are lots of people these days looking for a hand out white and black. Every problem our society has can be traced back to one thing. We have become a “drive-thru” society. We would much rather go to McDonald’s than prepare a meal for our children. I attended an event with my 7 year old daughter a few weeks ago to learn about the math curriculum at her school. We were the only ones that showed up from her class. That is the problem!

I’m not against science, nor do I wish to censor its curiousity of such topics, but strongly feel that other factors, such as I mentioned matter, and am highly suspicious of how oppressive agendas might exploit data.
I read (after your post) a Native American’s weigh in, on the fact that NOW… some government program funded by tax dollars is targeting their community based on some/such data. It strongly encourages young men to marry (to keep down male aggression caused by testosterone). Have you AWDs had the Federal government approach you out of concern for your testosterone levels?

I totally support that faith is a personal issue and freedom to be protected, re: Palin’s faith or any fundamentalists… But, do you not know that the major world-view of Evangelical Christians that say “I believe Jesus will come in my lifetime” also believe a very detailed, ever revised list such as 1. First the Antichrist will come and make a treaty with Israel for 7 years… then halfway thru it he will break it. and there will be Armageddon. When Palin answered (without blinking) her readiness to attack Russia, (do you not know the apocalyptic implications). How can you think that Palin would not be dangerous in this regard? I much prefer a careful approach to intelligence, advisors, and that includes diplomacy, when appropriate.
Kathy, what Palin believes in her personal faith is just that…her personal faith. I don’t care. I have said that I don’t get caught up in the abortion issue. I don’t hold it against Palin that she believes what she does and who knows..she could be right. As for Palin raining down nukes on Russia, that isn’t going to happen unless they launch some first…no matter what she believes. That being said, I believe Evangelicals paint themselves in a corner by not accepting good, smart, honest politicians like Mitt Romney just because he is a Mormon. I’m sure that Mormons have voted for years for Evangelicals and Baptists. That is my problem with the religious right.

Tolerance is good. Personal faith, yes its personal. I respect that. But, AWD… organized religion has its impact in society. And I disagree that when a large portion of political Christians believe they are living in the last days, and are pro-Israel mainly b/c of the book of Revelations and the pastors are selling it, that this does not matter. The same will say “Oh, Israel is a democracy” and know nothing of the Palestinian Christians, for instance.
I think you hit what is driving Americans… FEAR. You mentioned yours over Obama, but didn’t offer evidence, just you think he’s a crook (by association).
Before this election got to its heated momentum, there were TV advertisements by various groups, in bipartisan spirit trying to ignite what I think many people are thinking…. Dammit, you Republicans and Democrats, quit the crap and start doing your jobs. You wrote you think Repubs should do everything at every opportunity to be difficult and contrary. AWD, this makes me mad.
AWD I think Kathy has got you here. You mention that Obama is a crook but have not an iota of evidence. The Feds gave him a ‘clean bill of health’ yet you insist he is a criminal.
You sound like a fairly well thought out man but when you suggest Republicans should do all they can to disrupt the democratic administration I fail to realise the virtue in this. It is just childish playground sour grapes…. Now I think you ought to apologise to the lady for briefly losing your mind and offer to buy lunch
Kathy, you lie down with dogs and you wake up with fleas. Obama’s friends, plus the fact that he is from the most politically corrupt city in the country tell me all that I need to know about him. He has not even been inaugurated and the first scandal has erupted.
Plus, there hasn’t been an investigation yet of his untold millions in untraceable campaign funds. I have no doubt they came from the Middle East and China. Call me a skeptic but Obama is as dirty as the Clintons.
